I've had plenty of guys give me the thumbs up so far when driving it around town, including a guy in a really nice customized vintage 60's Corvette who caught up to me at a stoplight out in the country. That suprised me since he was in a really sharp looking car that was worth plenty. But I haven't noticed any attention from females at all. Not that I would, I've been happily married for 23 years and intend to stay that way at all costs.
I've owned both, the SRT and currently the 55. The 55 is .4 of a second slower in the 0-60 for 20K less and a hardtop convertible. The SRTs craftsmenship was
dodge dart-like at best with minivan knobs and buttons in a $90K. If anything, the Dodge is the Homer Simpson of sports cars while the SLK55 is the James Bond. SLK55: Sophisticatedly masculine versus Viper: Mid life crisis masculine. You make the choice.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I also test drove the SLK55 with my wife and she agreed that she had to try hard to control the car. However, she fell in love with the car and we're seriously considering getting one. I wouldn't mind other people seeing me driving in the SLK and it's definitely no chicks car. This roadster, with its curves, is just like a supermodel
The slk55 is a sexy roadster that is fast and very fun to drive. The hardtop roof sets it apart from anything in its class. Not to mention I turn more heads with my slk55 then any other car I have driven.
The Viper is nice but it lacks the refinement and sophistication whereas the SLK has plenty to offer. To each of its own I guess. I wouldn't be willing to spend the same amount of money I paid for my E for a "supercar" with a rental car interior. It just doesn't do it for me. For other people that are more into racing and modding, the Viper is definitely the choice. For my wife, an SLK with the 030 package is good enough.
I'd think a simple definition of a 'chick car' would be who drives and buys them. Men, or women? Maybe a Miata could be called a chick car, because many many women drive them, personally I think they're superb little roadsters for a reasonable price.
I don't see how the SLK55 can be a 'chick car' as it seems to be 90%+ purchased and driven by men.
I don't gauge my masculinity by what I drive. Previously I had a 700hp supercharged Corvette Z06, and a Lexus SC430. The SLK55 is the closest I could come to combining the two (until the SLK63 is released). It's fast, but not insane fast like the vette. Handles 100 times better than the SC430 even with Tein Coilovers and sway bars, and the price is quite fair. (Unlike the Caddy XLR-V which has a MSRP of $100k!).
Label the SLK55 whatever you'd like, but I'm still buying and driving it. =)

It seems like a great car, but I've got to agree that it's a chicks car. At 6'+ I couldn't get the seat comfortable. I really enjoyed it for her and will prob. pick one up. But, if your a 6' guy you should test drive it to make sure you feel comfortable.

Relax, it's just a bit of info for guys a bit taller.
FYI - I thought it was a girls car before I couldn't fit comfortably in it. I'm just giving my opinion. It's not meant to offend you or anyone else.

I fit perfectly.

I'm not saying someone will not be comfortable. Just suggesting they check it out.

I do agree that many larger people will not fit nor be comfortable. It's a small car. It's also a bit narrow. The 55 seats are even more snug than the others.
PS. I am not offended by your girl statement, but I find it funny how many reasons people come up with to judge a car 'girly.'
Seems drivers seat is where you want to be.
As for the "Flagship", I'd put my vote in for the S - Class.
CL600 is sweet and no leg room issues.
