hi new here and hopefully future slk owner , well im seriously lookin at tradin in my 02 vette, for a slk55. i just wanted to know how do these cars compare from the factory? i've owned the vette for 4 years and its time for a change. im considering mercedes because my father recently bought a clk55 and it hauls. i've only done intake and a catback to my car and the clk feels just as fast or as fast has the ls1 through the rpms .

I have a 2003 ZO6 and a 2006 SLK55. The SLK55 is much tighter and the interior materials a nicer. I think you will be very happy with the SLK55, especially when you stomp on the gas pedal. If you want to mod the car be prepared for sticker shock.

is 63K, what do they usually go for??
i don't want to sound wimpy but i prefer an automatic tranny, its just more consistent then a manual and better in traffic.

63K would be for one without options. The options list is short and if you dont want the performance pkg, you will max out around 70K. They are mostly selling for MSRP as it is summer. You can see 1-2K off in the fall usually. They dont dip as much in the fall as it is a hrad top.
It is faster than the CLK55 as it has the same engine, but less weight and 2 more gears. The noise is simply intoxicating.
Good luck......

The Noise is Amazing, I just love the vocals coming out of the SLK55's exhaust at Idle and WOT!

do any of you track your cars?? oh yea you are absolutely right about them selling at MSRP this summer. a couple of days ago i went to the dealership my dad got his clk55 and i saw the same slk55, they had it for like 2 months. maybe i can get a discount..
for 70k i can get the new Z06, even though its faster and may handle better. it just doesn't compare to the slk, for one its a benz, two its a convertible hard top, and three it has a 7spd shiftable automatic.
well since im goin out of the country today, i won't be test driving an slk until 2 weeks from now

I've taken my car autocrossing several times. I have yet to take it to the track. It seems my schedule never works out. I will do it this summer, hopefully several times. There is a couple members on this or the other forum that has taken the 55 to the track. Do a search.

you could also consider a new E55 which MSRP at 85-90...but are in heavy discount at mid 70s...you'd have a 4-door rocket that has 469hp (over 100 more than the SLK55's 355hp) and in my opinion a better buy for the money IF a convertible isnt a must
