2006 Brabus B55 (Brabus Modified SLK55)
Looking For The Real Car Enthusiasts! New Pics Too!

Got some new pics at the final Crystal Cove car meet in Newport Beach, CA (got shut down by the landlord) and from the new "Cars & Coffee" car meet in Irvine, CA. I am pretty proud of the old B55. And at 400 hp naturally aspirated (modified of course), it earns its keep on the roadway. I haven't posted in here for a while and would like to get active in the forums again. Nice to see some old familiar faces. You guys are the really knowledgeable ones about mods, engines and speed. The guys on the other sites only like talking about the automatic roof unit, hidden command menus and bluetooth modules. I want to talk about mods and speed!

Thanks for looking!

It almost the same people on all 3 sites. However, this site and slk world .com have the most performance enthusiasts.

Thanks for the new pictures....your previous photo inspired me to move up to a 55 with beige package.
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=150982 page 1 at bottom. Sorry for the color change...needed a visual. I need to find a East Coast/New England "Cars & Coffee" car meets. I have a lot to learn about the 55, mods, etc. here and have found this site to be very helpful.

Your SLK is one "Bad B55"!

Is that the car meet that was in C&D awhile back where all the high-ends owners would get together? Where there would frequently be an enzo and such? The pictures make it seem like it is a public gather but I always thought of it as a private event amongst the elites(private meeting place). Your Brabus car is amazing, it looks really good. I love those rims too, people usually go with the other variation Brabus ones. Did you have any Brabus interior work?

2009 Mars Red SLK55
I was just wondering. What do you guys reckon that color combo is? It looks like mars red with beige interior. I'm not sure, however, because mars red doesn't look as metallic as Beleriand's car makes it look if it is truly mars red. ON the car itself, brilliant car.

nice car.

I'm new here and I am looking into the SLK350 or SLK55 AMG now.
Any 2007 car is a must, as I'm buying it for ME.

I'd like to know more what owners think of the SLK, and I am also interested in attending the meets, and see the actual cars prior to me getting one.

I've been to the dealers, but its late at night, and they are busy on weekends.

The best thing to do is to go out and test drive them both. I am of the opinion - quite strongly - that the SLK55 is the way to go. Actually, I have owned both an SLK350 and an SLK55. I had a 2005 Caspian Blue 350 for about a year and I loved it. But I did not become a car enthusiast until I bought my 55. I think it is worth every penny of the extra money it costs to get the 55.

I have always loved the SLK style and the weight to power ratio. I have driven the SL55 on many occasions. What I notice most is that the SLK55 accelerates faster from 80 - 100 mph than the SL55. The SL55 almost feels sluggish at high speeds - most likely due to the weight. I would choose the SLK55 over the SL55 again, but that is just my opinion. I actually really like both cars.

If you are looking to modify your SLK, then you must go with the 55. Aftermarket options for the 350 are very limited.

Good luck to you.

sl feels sluggish at high speeds?

it should be the other way around, weight is less important as speeds increase

i wouldnt get a slk but if i had to it would be a slk350 w/ a 6 speed.

if youre planning on getting an amg then wait, the will drop the 6.2 in one of these days

weight does matter in acceleration. obviously a lighter car will go faster.

Actually weight is NOT important in either case.... it's mass that counts

Anyway, the mass is component of acceleration, the same at lower or higher speeds.

However, it is true that you could say that mass is RELATIVELY (no einstein/newton pun intended!) less important at higher speeds since the resistance of the air (i.e. wind resistance) goes up as a square of velocity.

All of the above assume you are at the point of only rolling friction with the tires, not static (i.e. you are moving at least >0.00001 mph).

Clear?
