Aftermarket Front Brake Pads

Has anyone found any aftermarket brake pads that will fit an SLK55 (non 030 option) and not dirty the wheels as much as the OE pads?...thanks.

Be carefully with the Porterfield the really hard compounds will take it out on your rotors. My friend had some on his elise, he didn't notice a lot of difference at the track. the pads last forever but his rotors didn't

Yes, and in case you haven't checked -- MB wants about $800 EACH for AMG 55 rotors. Philip at "philip@mercedesshop.com" offered them for less, but rotor wear is a significant factor.

I think the ones that come from / ////AMG are the best, I dont think paying premium over the Standard Mb's wont give you superb brakes, A couple of friends drove my SLK55 AMG and said the brakes are strong and dont fade.

Brake Pads

What is the costs on the manufactureres brake pads? It should be a DIY right?

Changed the pads on my previous car (99 Boxster) and that was ok.

If the reply is not too late.......... Porterfield has a few series of pad, and the R4S is great for the street and occasional AutoX use. Very very low dusting, and no fading and not harsh on the rotors at all. (I've got to cars with them now, one a classic where rotors would be extremely hard to find now).

If you goto their website send and email if you are not sure. Wendy will reply with prices and such.
