Do all Convertibles have roof Rattles
Hello all,
I bought a new Porsche boxster S ( great drive , handling etc) but the roof rattles are making me crazy . The service cant seem to eliminate them and they too think some roof noises can happen in convertibles. I am thinking of switching to SLk55. I never had a convertible before. Some say even high end convertibes like SLK, Carerra etc can have roof rattles because of so many moving parts.
Is this true?, will the SLK also have roof rattles when and if I trade it for Box S
Any suggestions will help me . I had an M3 before and had no rattles

Are you talking of ratling while closed, open or in the porcess of opening/closing?
If it it is while close....then the answer is NO ratling at all!!! You may hear some wind noise near the windows but not much.

My car is 20 months old with 25K miles on it, and I've never experienced roof rattles. But I have experienced the roof creaking, especially in cold weather, and MB issued a TSB regarding this...they have a special lubricant for the roof seals. They did this under warranty for me, and it did stop the noise, but a year later the creaking has returned. Perhaps this needs to be every year prior to the cold weather?

Black 07 SLK55 Performance Package & Black 06 Lexus GS430
you guys must have perfect paved roads. Anyone ever tried to drive their SLK in San Francisco before? I guarantee your roof will rattle like a snake.
