CF Installed

Here's some pics of the finished install. It turned out better than I expected. I'm very pleased. The passenger side dash strip held in place just fine so my concern was unwarented. Overall a great upgrade for $1300 and easy to install. Thanks go to Neal at Euroteckmotorsports for getting them to me so quickly.

The inner door handle is stock. It does look a little wierd I admit. They do make a completly CF one, but I think that would be CF overkill.

I wish I could do the entire center console. They make parts for the cup holder cover which I was going to get, but with the rest of the center being stock I thought it would look out of place. I've not seen a picture of the CF gear lever. I think Neal does carry them though. Speedo cover definatly needs replaced. I'll have to find a good source overseas. I tried writing to cksperformance but they never replied. I might try performanceproducts here in the states and see if they can special order it since they're an autohorized reseller.

Nice upgrade indeed. Unfortunately, the SLK may be on it's way out.

You selling yours or what do you mean? Surely they'd never discontinue the SLK. It's my favorite MB car. It's the car that inspired me to work hard and rise above so that I could one day have the money to own one. Long story.

SLK 55 AMG
I think what he means is that he's selling his SLK.

The current SLK hasn't even had a facelift yet, and that was confirmed for end of this year or early next year. The SLK isn't going anywhere. It's selling better then the Z4, Boxster and pretty much just as well as much cheaper cars such as the Miata (MX5).

Probably selling. I'm 6'5" so it's a little tight and it's not really a good fit now that we have the baby. Just talk right now. Resale is horrible so it may remain a "garage queen".

Luckily, resale is pretty good for the SLK55 AMG over here in Switzerland.

You could probably make more money then you bought it if you modified it and sent it to Switzerland for sale over here

I talked to performance products. They said they can get me the instrument cluster surround in CF (3 pieces) for the low low price of $1,500. That's $200 more than all the other parts I just bought combined.

That's an oem plexiglass wind screen. You should be able to order them through your dealership. They're kinda pricey at about $600.

Ouch, cant you buy another oem plastic set and send it to a CF specialist to have it done for a reasonable price ?

I actually inquired about that with the entire center console. Word is that it would be too difficult especially with the command as the buttons are small and a perfect fit would make the project not worth the cost to the vendor. Even if they could the cost would make you choke, just not worth it.

However Neal got back with me and said he can get the CF cluster for $1375, $125 cheaper than performance products. However delivery time is 1.5 - 2 months.

Neal is getting the exact same part as performance products. They're both made by MP Design. I'm going to get it and see how it looks. If you haven't already you might want to get the CF gearshift surround(~$600) since you already have the other 030 CF parts. The gearshift surround looks very nice and goes great with the other CF parts, then again anything is better than the grey plastic thats there now.

BTW, MP Design makes the CF parts for the 030 package, so the CF will all match. Don't have to worry about different weave patterns making it look odd.

so, did you install the CF yourself and if so how hard was it to do? I am assuming that you removed the OEM parts and replaced them with the CF ones.
