Next generation SLK preview??
Sorry if this is a repost but according to MotorAuthority here is a preview of the next generation SLK. Notice the 6.3 on the fenders. I don't know how accurate this is but I thought I would post it:

Its quiet actually looks very nice and I highly doubt that its the next SLK because the body shape looks very much the same as the 171, the seats and as well the side moldings and rear.

That has to be a photoshop generated image, because it has the bumper of an 09, the foglamps look like the ones I saw in the other thread which were made by a company in Europe, seats are the same, lights look like the new CL's, and we all know the Distronic radar sensor Mercedes emblem is not offered on SLK's.

Nobody knows yet. Don't hold your breath.
You can only look at trends. Mercedes keeps certain models running for about 6-8 years at a time.
The R170 was first shown to the public in 96 I believe. It came out end of 97 (usually regarded as model year 98... I had one).
In early 2004, production ceased, and the R171 was shown at the Geneva autoshow in March. In April/May, the first SLK200's (using a supercharged 1.8) came out.
Thus, the R170 had a run of nearly 7 years.
We are currently on year 4 of the R171 run, and the face lift just took place. A facelift usually happens at mid-run through a production vehicles run, sometimes towards the latter third.
The R170 had a facelift in 2001.
But I'd be very surprised if an R172 (or whatever it'll be called) appears BEFORE 2011.
