Opinions please!!!
I will be adding to my AMG collection now my 911 is sold.
I am torn between an SLK55 and an E55.
Who here has owned both and what are your thoughts?
I realize 2 very different cars. I already have a CLK55 and an S320.
So do I need a convertible or a really fast sedan?

I am driving a SLK 55 right now , and my previous ride is a E 55. I like both, and they are both great cars! All depends on your needs, E 55 is a very fast and comfortable sedan. SLK 55 is a great small fast and fun car to drive! I reaaly like my SLK 55 right now, and I am going to keep that for a long time!

Thanks Lee,
One more question if I may.
If I get an SLK55 I would like to do track events with it.
I an 6'2" and 215 lbs. How is your head room?
With a helmet on will I fit?
I know I will fit in an E55 I have tested it with my helmet on.
Thanks!

2006 SLK 55 amg, 2002 CLK 430 Cab (hers), 1989 944 Turbo (sold), CLK 500 (sold), 125cc shifter kart
I am 6' 4" and fit in the car fine. My height is in my legs so I have plenty of head room - enough for a helmet. Nice thing is that the seats can be adjusted right down to the floor board.
Handling is good, but not great. Steering feel and sensitivity is a bit "slow" compared to a BMW. Front engine with lots of torque and a relatively short wheelbase makes the car a little snappy; when the rear end comes around, it comes around pretty quickly. Unlike the Porsche GT3 or even M3, the cars is not set up for the track. SLK 55 will still be a lot of fun and a HUGE bang for the buck. And about 700+ pounds lighter than the E55....

Also, I think the interior is quite big! There shouldn't be any problem with the helmet inside!

20+ to list......
I have both, and since they are both supercharged, I can tell you this, pick the SLK55 for maximum fun factor and the E55 when you want a comfort ride around town. Since you have an S class in your garage, the choice is clear, SLK.

Like many have already said, the SLK for sure. It will complete your stable. Oh, I think I know someone selling his SLK55. Perhaps you can work something out

Thanks everyone!!!
I am leaning towards the SLK55. Because it would be a great addition as a convertible to the ever growing collection. I am waiting till spring to pull the trigger. I will let everyone know what I purchase!!!
