Resonator delete and now....rear can delete...WOW

Finally, an AMG sounding the way it should. Had the rear cans cut off. What a difference in sound. Deep, powerful, but not obnoxious sounding like long tubes. If anyone is thinking about it, do it. The resonator delete was ok; but w/o the cans, it sounds like an AMG should and not like an old man MB. I'll try to some vids up this weekend.

No, complete removal with dual tips installed. That was the hardest part, finding tips as big as the AMG's. Eventually found a tip by Magnaflow that's oval and about same dimensions to fill in the cut out on the rear apron. Hollowing them out I would imagine would lead to resonance. I tried that in my Boxster and hated the results. Eventually bought a pair of GHL 5" race cans and what a difference. On the AMG, left the CAT's stock, so plenty of muffling already for my taste. Heck, I'm tempted to cut the 2nd's off now.

Enjoy. It sounds even better in person. Thinking about 2nd CAT delete to free up some flow and get some nice gargling sounds..

Sounds very mean and raucous! The second cat delete might make it too loud. Did you notice anything in the "feel" of the car when you removed the the resonator and mufflers (good or bad)??

Usually the second adds more bass than volume. However, I am on the edge of it becoming a blown out 427 sound. Hard to say really if PU'd any torque...it's too damn fast to start with. I have noticed my gas mileage dropping...but not from the mod itself....

I'll likely pick up some headers in the near future and then may get rid of my secondary cats...

Now that would be loud. Put the LT's on my Roush with a complete De-Cat. It scared the heck out of the neighbors, especially on an early cold morning startup.

Resonator was first thing to go. Now the rear cans. Debating on the 2nd CAT. Not very big so it can't be muffling too much. Probably would add some bass if I removed them. Problem to weld, I have to remove the front pipe from the collector to get at the 2nds. I don't think MB wanted us messing with the pipes...too bad.

loud

if you really want it loud ... just go to Long tube headers. I actually put my resonator back ON because the combination of LT headers, 100cell cats and no resonator was just too damn loud.

Never too loud. LT will trip CEL's unless I get into engine management.

Just need to relocate the sensors. Supersprint's system has the new bung at the 100 cell cats. Just need to redo the wiring of the sensor and add about 5 feet.
