To me didn't sound much louder than stock. Is that your impression? Please share more details. Is a retune recommended? Price of headers and install? Dis you shop around for other makes? I just got an '05 slk55 and was considering headers but i do think the stock exhaust sounds great.

Its ,much deeper than stock and more pronounced when on the throttle, I installed the headers and modified the exhaust. Headers were $650 on ebay, header wrap was probably 120 or so, also had to insulate the spark pug wires, I just did a Eurocharged tune so should be 400+ at the flywheel. I also ported the stock TB and cut back the throttle shaft.....

Wow another 50 hp over stock sounds perfect. Do they sell a ceremac coated version of these anywhere? Do you have a posi rear on you slk? If i can get mine back to as perfect as i can get [just bought it, needs lots of minor stuff like all fluids changed, worst is rear main seal is leaking per dealer, i see no oil on floor] these are the type of mods i'd like to do. Thanks for sharing some cool info.

No coating to my knowledge, I used DEI Titanium wrap on mine

Now that I know the ins and outs it wouldnt be too bad, the worst ones were PS back/bottom which is accessible from the top.... (See pic) and then you need to drop the steering shaft to get the PS in, matching the downpipes to the original exhaust was a nightmare, but if you have access to a muffler shop to round out the oval exhaust it wont be bad.

No need to wait just do the throttle adaptation after install. Be sure your gaskets are good

I wrapped my headers instead of coating, you will also wanted some insulated plug wire protectors. EC tune is great, but loading the tune it almost bricked my ECU.... got lucky. Long story but make sure you get all of the directions I would also have a 25 amp charger set up on the battery and ECs phone # ready in case things go south.

Wrapped it is good idea, but prefer ceramic coat over it, due to damn heat here..,,

i heard some issues with ECU tune Remotely, maybe sending ECU better way to tune it..

Since no one post on the 210 page

here’s my 2002 e55 with kleemann headers, and a custom intake.

That’s before and after intake

What the specifics on the air intake setup? I also ported my TB to 76.5, skinnied the shaft and knife edged the Throttle blade

Just the fins cut out of the elbow, to the throttle body. This set up leaned my car out 2 points. From like low 11s afr to low 13s afr.

Did you make the hole in your intake manifold bigger? A panamera turbo, has a 76mm throttle body. Thinking about getting one to try on an old manifold I have.

I did not open up the manifold, narrowing the shaft and throttle blade with help it flow like a larger TB

I would say the manifold definitely needs to be opened up. From what I’ve seen, 2mm bigger throttle body will only flow at best maybe 20 to 40 more cfm. This intake definitely made power. It was super easy to make.

Hard to see the knife edge but you can see the thick edge is no longer there...

I see that. I will practice on some throttle bodies we have at the shop. Maybe dyno one of them.

I’ve also seen some dynos from ported SS Camaro throttle bodies and they really didn’t add any power. Maybe 3 to 5 at best. I would get the throttle body flow test

They didnt cut the shaft or knife edge, also the throttle body was already big stock I believe

Any issues with the silicon elbow collapsing under load?

Negative, it’s super thick and very high quality. Not sure why it would collapse under load.

Also the stock intake manifold has a 74mm hole in it. Just porting the throttle body, it’s still a 74mm throttle body. Just slight bigger before the flap. Let me know how much it makes on the dyno.

But cutting the shaft and knife edging the blade do in increase the volume the TB vs a stock 74MM I believe the stock shaft is 10mm wide

Trial fit but might be time for a dyno test... 3.5" vs stock
