So Cal SLK 55 AMG Owners Check In

Is it just me or does it seem, from the posters on this board, like So Cal (LA, OC, SD) has the highest percentage of SLK 55 AMG owners in the country?

If you check in, I'll put you on the list and we'll see if any other area compares.

A bucket on wheels
I don't own an slk yet(hopefully next year i can get an slk350) but i believe the reason that most people who own slk's reside in cali is because of the weather. With exception to the past couple weeks we usualy have year round sunshine which makes for a great drop top.

So Cal Owners

We should cruise PCH for So Cal. What do you think all?

Take a look at this thread, looks fun.

I'm totally up for it - and ours may just be a bit better as we'll have all R171s - we'd be killing it!

Of course planning a day when we will all be available may be hard. I'm open, just let me know what is good for the rest if anyone else wants to do this.

Anyone want to head up the So Cal PCH Cruise Meet?

Anyone want to head up the PCH Cruise Meet? Does anyone have the time and resources to start this project? Looks like we have some cruisers, of course it would be better if we had more intrested parties. I don't think we should limit the cars just to 55's. 350's, 32's, and 320's should be welcome as well.

To update your list I live in OC-Irvine.

PCH Cruise

When I used to ride a motorcycle, we would meet in Huntington Beach (Orange County) and cruise up PCH, thru Newport, making a left on Newport Coast road (nice wide open curves), cutting past UCI, getting on University to the 405 Fwy, then exiting at the next exit so we could cruise down Laguna Cyn Rd. Then we would go to the Kiosk Place in Laguna (I don't know the real name - its in that Village place with all the artists kiosks and, most importantly, its own p. lot) for some casual outside cliffside oceanview eating, drinking (good wine there) and relaxing. Coming back, we would go all the way on PCH, this time incorporating that part between Laguna and Newport, especially pretty. Does this sound good for us?

In Huntington, at Main & Orange, there is a business a bit up the street called the Electric Chair. It is a few blocks up from PCH, plus its winter, so its rather large lot doesn't get too busy. We could all meet up and park there. On Sunday mornings everybody cruises their cars up and down Main St in HB and the Elec Chair is just at the top of where the cruisers start, so this would be a good place to meet, plus our cars could all be next to each other. If it is gorgeous out and therefore maybe a busy wknd, I can possibly even get them to block out some spots for us, like if we want to go to breakfast first.

Does this sound good as well?

Also, maybe we should see how many SLK55s we have first before we invite others. I know of another SLK55 in Huntington Beach who doesn't even post here who wants to go on a drive, so we may have our hands full just trying to park and keep 4 or 5 or 6 of us together on PCH and on the other roads of the busy beach communities of So Cal. Maybe we should just keep it casual the first few times til we get it down. Plus, the looks we will get keeping it real, even if there are only a few of us, will make up for keeping it small, at least for now. What do you think?

Before we start a new thread, let's pick a date, so we don't have to change the title or first post (I still can't edit my first post here - grrrr).

How about Sun, Jan 23 or 30?

Very much so. This will be just a casual little dinky 1st attempt at a SoCal R171 Park & Cruise (w/lunch perhaps halfway thru).

Along with the above route, after lunch in Laguna, we could stay on PCH thru to Capo Beach and San Clemente to encourage our SD contingent to show up? They can just start back from there while we turn back?

How about Jan 30? Is that Super Bowl or anything?

Nope, Superbowl is 2/6 and you can't goof around with that. It's sacred

OK I'm in for Jan 30. I still think all SLK's should be invited. If so, we should start a new thread in the SLK forum, not the AMG forum.

Thanks cjmegha

HI all,
We are open to whatever you all decide though depending on the time of the event and the availability of a babysitter Wolf may be the only one who makes it this time.

Okay Sun, Jan 30 it is, shall we say 10:30 am? Are there any huge playoff games that will be on? Should we switch it to Sat, Jan 29? Little help, thanks.

And, cj, your desires are noted and will be acted on in due course, but for now, can we just test the route, restaurants, parking, etc.? We can call it the R171 Guinea Pig Lunch Cruise
