My very good dealer has managed to arrange for me to borrow their UK Press car (used for magazine tests and photo shoots) for three days. I'm not sure how many SLK55s are in the country so far but it can't be many so I'm rather pleased to have this chance to give the car a real test!!!!!

Just wondered if anyone had any special requests for pictures or videos?

Yes I'll be VERY careful! EVO had a brief review a few months back but that was a left hooker.

The only UK magazine articles so far have been based on a fairly short drive at the launch, with a Euro spec car, and no timing gear allowed. Hopefully, there will be some proper in-depth roadtest articles with a UK car on UK roads in the near future. They may already be written, and not yet published. But I really want to see the car on a TV programme, and there aren't any on at the moment. So, they might need it next month or the month after, for filming. I bet it's Iridium Silver, BTW.

The guy I've been dealing with is the Merc company car rep for the UK so he's not strictly speaking a mainstream dealer. My company do a lot of business with Merc so they've always been very helpful.

He helped me get a 4 day test of one of the first SLKs in the country last July......

A review would be great, I really would like to know more about the auto box that has been getting some bad press.

Well, I've personally been dieing to find out 1/4 times. At least give us a trap speed if you can squeeze it out of the editors or whoever. Otherwise give us a review on power, acceleration, handling, etc. And give comparos to other cars of similar type.

I have a HUGE request, that you MUST fulfil! PLEASE PLEASE make some speedo/tach videos 0-60mph/0-100mph/in gear acceleration, ANYTHING! Please! If you have a chance, some outside acceleration videos as well, so you can we hear that sucker roar!

The auto is the thing I'll be most interested in as I wasn't convinced by the SLK350 auto...... in theory the AMG auto is better. I'll also be trying to find some safe bits of road to see how intrusive the traction control is when in the "off" mode.

I'll do my best 0-60 and 0-100 can be done in one short video so as long as one of my mates can hold the camera straight that shouldn't be a problem (unless the roads are wet!)...... there is no shortage of mates willing to be a passenger so I'll just pick one that can work my camera!
