I am saying that MSRP has not been meaningful for quite some time because SLR dealers have been offering the cars for far less than MSRP.
If dealers have been offering the cars for significantly less than MSRP for a long time then MSRP is no longer the real price of the car.
By "Real Offer" I mean the actual price at which these cars have been offered to customers who display interest as opposed to the MSRP which has stopped being an accurate representation of the price of the car.

Your original post is either wrong or misleading. This SLR is not new at at $100k off, you cannot say the "Real Offer" on a new one is $349k. There is a difference between new and used

$342 is avg. 340 is basically what they cost new, it should be the real MSRP, $440 was just a BS price point, and honsetly it probably hurt the sales, if they drop the MSRP to 340k sales may pick up infact. Dealerships can't give those things away, production numbers way too high and its just not exotic enough for the $340k price tag. Yes its still badass car but MB's marketing team didn't do a good job w/ the car.

the us market got flooded with slrs....the taxes over in europe killed sales over there...
i was at a dealer we sold an slr within 2 months of getting it, then we got a second slr it sat on the showroom for well over a year...
my opinion of the slr...great car...under rated by critics....sbc hurt it..but sbc helps it stop on a dime...
most dealers cant even give the cars away...maintence on that car well..if you can buy it..money really isnt a problem

When I hear or read "Real Offer" usually means thats what YOU are offering to pay. MSRP stands for Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price - It isn't written in stone so it makes perfect sense for a dealer to sell at a price that they're willing to accept and what the market demands...thats usually known as market price.

I understand that MB is now subsidizing these discounts to some extent.

I agree. That new Murcielago LP640 is pretty badass. For the 300-400k price range, it'd be a tossup for me between the Lambo and the SLR.
I don't think thats a bad price at all for a SLR considering it is pretty exotic and rare (I still haven't seen one on the streets of NY).

Me too. In todays market the 599 is the new got to have it car but it is just the newest production line 12 cyl. ferrari that will be replaced by the next model while the SLR is a real supercar that is not just the newest model waiting for a replacement. The 550 was an over sticker hyped up car in 97 and now its just the last model 2 seater 12 cyl that is still dropping in value.

Even if you could get the 599 at MSRP?
Got an offer on my incoming ,new SLR + $100k cash.
Extremely tempting but that would make that 599 the last Ferrari I would ever get from my dealer..
Long term relationship is more important to me.
