Question '05 SLR value?

'05 SLR Silver/Red with just 700 miles(obviously in showroom condition) .
Anyone knows what would be a good buy on that?

You are a ways off. Only 05 SLR you will get for near 270 will be high miles with no warranty left. 05-06 SLR's actually sell pretty close to the same depending on warranty remaining. A nice 05 with low miles is still in the 290-305K range.

It's not that it's soft, you just have to wait for the right buyer, especially with that color combo.

Yes, Silver is also less expensive than black, not to mention how much warranty does that car have left.

Are you sure about the MB extended coverage? I spoke with two dealers who said that MB will NOT warranty the SLR's after the fact. How much are they asking?

You can get extended up to 36 months as long as the original coverage is in force.
Will get the quote this week...

I would think that if you can afford an SLR than you can afford to fix your car after the warranty expires. JMO.

I would triple check on that if I were you. I was going to buy the Benz Auto Show SLR. Car was perfect, no miles, warranty was expiring in like 2 months, and BenzUSA would NOT extend any warranty.

I don't fully trust these 5.5 supercharged engines, had one blow up on me at 600 miles in E55 back in 2003.
Replacement in SLR costs over $100k,that's too much to stomach for me....

On a side note, the car is fantastic. As you learn to drive it you will see that the cars performance far exceeds that what magazine tests would lead you to believe.

Care to elongate that a bit KURV? The reviews for the SLR were a bit mixed.

And with 24K miles, most likely the highest mileage SLR in the U.S.

It may be the highest mileage SLR in the US, but having "high or higher" mileage is not a criteria for the overall BELOW average condition of the car. Obviously the car has been driven and was not taken car of.

I'm sure once the dealer gets his hands on it and fixes whatever problems it has it will still carry an outrageous premium even with the "higher" mileage.

Of course. Another SLR I had looked at was silver/red with 10K miles. It was actually used in the movie Redline. Car was in very sad shape, paintwork everywhere, broken glass inside the car, interior scuffed and even torn. Car still sold for 275k with no warranty left.

1989 560SL 19K miles Sold, 1991 300SE 191K miles Totalled
I sold an '05 Silver/Red (which is the best color combo for resale) about a year ago for $325,000. It only had 77 miles on the odo, but was 'titled' for about 2 years. These cars come with a 4 year 50K warrantee. Original sticker was $465,000.

Silver/red is NOT the best combo for resale. They are plentiful. The most sought after combo is the black/red, followed by black/black, followed by silver/red and then all others.

I beg to differ. I'm an M-B dealer and a broker specializing in exotics. There is a MUCH higher demand for the Silver/Red (Silver Arrow PKG) combination in MY 2005. There may be more out there in this combo, but it is probably because more people ordered the car this way as it was the most desireable model. Any '05 with Black interior or Grey interior did not have the $9,900 'Silver Arrow 300SL Red Leather' option. Cars with this option are in higher demand.

Wrong. Just because a car had a higher MSRP does not make it more in demand. It is true, that in each color combo, the red interior is more in demand, but overall any black colored car, especially say black/red vs silver/red the black commands a premium. Black/black is more sought after over any silver.
