Went into the shop that does my cosmetics to make an appointment and saw a SLS being done in a very popular color here recently. Out in the sun it actuall looks pretty striking. It's all about the bling in the Middle East

Is that paint on the SLS or glossy vinyl wrap?

 

It's a foil wrap. Some guys are in their every second month changing colors, there was also a 911 finished in a brushed metal wrap, it looked absolutely amazing.

 

It seems that they do a very good job. I couldn't tell whether it's vinyl or paint

 

Some of the cars that roll out of there I'd swear are paint. Lot's of guys drive to Dubai from Doha and KSA to have their cars done at this place. I've put up quite a few pictures from the shop in the SLR thread/section, some beautiful work, take a look.

 

Yes, I believe that this SLS is from Doha, where I am from. I took a look at the SLR which you posted earlier. That SLR is also from Doha.

But is it really worth it to drive all that distance for vinyl wrapping?

 

Depends on if there is a high quality place to have it done in Doha. These guys are dropping 20-30,000AED/QR for these conversions, Guess they feel its worth the drive. Guess they get to show off for 8 hours on the drive back too

 

I'm sure the women love that color!

 

Very clean work.
Too flashy for me but they did a great job wrapping it.
I think it would look really nice in a dark blue/purple color.

Why does this seem very overpriced to me?
I can buy a whole 3M certified vinyl and it would cost less than $900, include installation and the whole price would become around $2000 (that's 7300QR)

20000-30000 AED ( $5400-$8200), is just too much for vinyl wrapping.
I think I can paint the whole car for that price

why someone would someone throw away perfectly good oil money on such a stupid show of status........is beyond me... I love mods....but this this a waste,
yeah, the wrapping is skillful......but any dope can waste money like this......

You have to be there to "get it". Different strokes for different folks. At least they aren't spending your money.

 

I must say, that color just does not suit the SLS. regardless, great job on the wrap.

 

Oh I agree in regards to the color but over here the tastes, styles and whatever else you want to call it are very, very different than what you and I are used to. I've been here 7 years now so not much surprises me anymore... This is a big time bling, notice me, society - nothing wrong with it, just a little different than the way it's done elsewhere.

I don't think it looks bad at all. I wouldn't pick that color but it's not TERRIBLE imo.

From the pics I've seen, amazing work.

 

My sig pic was taken in that shop... They have been in tons of mags and TV spots, cars from all over the Mid East get brought in to them for work. A great group of guys and flawless work. I actually saw a Land Cruiser being dome in the same color as the SLS one week and saw it in Doha the next. I asked the driver if thats where he had it done and he was beaming with joy saying it was. Small world.

 

Looks like there are a few purple SLS
