SLS Black Series vs Dodge Viper SRT
Good comparison (even though you can have 3 vipers for 1 SLS black), good video, maybe in the wrong section but it still carries an 6.3 ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Is the Viper's curb weight calculated using the same methodology as the SLS BS? I recall a few years ago when I had a Z4MC, the mags were yabbering about how the Cayman S is so much lighter, however Porsche didn't use the same standard as BMW and it turned out the weight differential was only about 20% of the delta (vs. 100%) as it appeared at first blush. Looking at the Viper's trap speeds of 128 - 130ish, it is ~5mph faster than a 505HP Z06. That's kinda suspect.

You can't just disregard price like that...it's the biggest factor. The new Viper is only a couple of grand more than the old one but the Black Series is almost $100k more than a "normal" SLS.
Don't get me wrong....I can't stand the new Viper but let's keep it at least apple to apples....that was more like Swanson frozen dinner to a Surf and Turf at Ruth's Chris
Why didn't they just throw in the Ferrari F12 and Shelby GT500

If you're spending 100k on a viper I'd venture a guess you could spend the money on an SLS. Obviously this won't be true in some cases but if someone is buying a 100k+ car they can swing a few dollars.
Ouch on the scraping lip on the SLS in the beginning of the video going around the S bend declining corner

It's also a little silly because the BS SLS is the top dog in the SLS stable, while the SRT Viper is not the top dog in the Viper's... when they come out with an ACR Viper it will wipe the floor with the BS and almost anything else I'd venture.

You will hate me more becuase I am getting the first one sold in the US. I was notified by my dealer this week that build status on NetStar went to B1 which means 13 days until production. I can't wait, looks like a monster on the track.

There would be no comparison between a stock C BS and an SLS BS, the SLS wins hands down in probably every category. Now if your're talking my Weistec Stage 3 C BS against a stock SLS my C BS will slaughter it in every category. My C puts down 40 more hp to the wheels than the SLS BS makes at the crank, I have also upgraded my C to the same carbon ceramic brakes that are on the SLS BS. I will be sending my SLS BS to Weistec so they can install a stage 3 SC on it as well, should be a real beast after that, I imagine there will nit be many cars anywhere that will be able to beat that on a track.

I wonder what the outcome would be if the Viper had a "proper" transmission ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I think a manual transmission is a mistake in a high powered car today. The technology for flappy paddles is just faster, sorry all you manual guys. I get the driving connection associated with a manual and the "old school" feeling, but in the supercar realm today, a stick has no place IMO. More durable, cheaper, less bugs..yes, yes, yes---faster![Shakehead](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/shakehead.gif)
I don't get the whole manual transmission chest pounding in a car like this and the Z06. I really think guys some how feel cooler and tougher if they row their own gears, even if they're slower than a similar flappy paddle car. And anyone who thinks driving a non-manual car is less enjoyable or boring, needs to push their cars more or come for a ride with me with ESP off
Manual transmissions are old, outdated nonsense in high powered cars today. What's next, should I get drum brakes installed on my car and no power steering
"look guys, no discs..you're so pu$$y having disks, haha"

Also, these lap times are with a professional driver handling both cars, put in the hands of the average ham fisted owners, the Viper will do much worse vs the SLSBS because the Viper is manual.
Anyway, just my .02, is the SLSBS better..of course it is
, could the Viper beat the SLSBS on the track with proper flappy paddles, yep! But you gotta run what you brought!
End rant--flame suit on

theres jsut some satisfaction you get driving a standard when your badass at it and can do it correctly. kind of like beating that m3 on the roadcourse with a 100hp miata. it may be old and crude, but lethal when driven correctly. So how does the regular sls gt stack up to the viper? then its only double the price instead of triple

i find it depends on what the car is. if i had a viper or zr1 for a weekend warrior i'd rather it be a standard. sometimes i just want to go out on a friday night and bang some gears. standard is fun and rewarding. that being said, most cars like a c63, i'd rather be DCT (if it was an option) or even the mct/older transmission as you can still run through the gears manually but it's good for a daily driver as well. But if I had a dedicated fun weekend type car than standard would be my choice. The feeling and sound of rev matched down shifts in a beastly loud car is just too satisfying.

It's not always about being faster, there's always a car faster than yours.
I used to be a proponent of the "stats" of each car.
I could rattle off the HP, torque, shift speed for whatever automated manual tranny, etc.
As I'm getting older, I'm starting to appreciate the driving feel.
It's no longer about being the "baddest and fastest".
Not to mention I can't afford the "baddest and fastest".
So my next car, I've ordered a manual tranny for a more connected experience.
