Tough call. If basing future performance off of 300SL values they're both just as valuable. I personally love the gullwing doors and they were one of the major reasons I bought the car.

gullwing, the value is huge for the wings now. 2012 convertibles are cheaper than a 2011 gullwing .

Little more info; my Twin Bro he likes the Roadster, I like the Gullwing, we gonna settle it some how some way I just though good members of the forum can give their input, I believe the Gullwing will be more collectable, but we are both 6,4", I'm little worried that I'm gonna hit my head on the door, I know "Tjandegi" is 6,3" and he told me that he clears the doors just fine, I just need to get in to one of the Gullwings and see it myself...

Thnx for the input everyone, keep it coming..

I'm only 6'1" 😔 maybe with my hair I'm 6'3" haha but I think you should be fine at 6'4". Hardest thing will be making sure not to hit your head on the door when entering. Once you're in, you should have plenty of room...and by plenty I mean a few inches at most, but that's enough.

Gullwing, without any doubt

There is no question that the Gullwing is the more special and collectable. There are countless roadsters around. The Gullwing feature is expensive to design and build and is special. AMG itself is always talking about the uniqueness of the Gullwing -- and how it is saving that feature for a future supercar (as opposed to the more pedestrian AMG GT, which is, however, likely to spawn a roadster iteration). The Gullwing has also won many design awards. Of course don't expect any significant appreciation for some years. That's the natural lifecycle of these things. And of course it will always be preserved, original, authenticate ones that are worth the most. But both versions should gain in value over time. After all, the SLS is the first car to be designed and built by AMG from the ground up, and it is the last AMG or Mercedes to have a naturally aspirated engine. And just look how prices are taking off on the BMW Z8 and Ford GT -- and the SLS was a true supercar in its own right, not just an "instant classic" like those two.

2010: 499 total units ---> all were Coupes
2011: 722 total units ---> 541 Coupes & 181 Roadsters
2012: 800 total units ---> 389 Coupes & 411 Roadsters
2013: 451 total units ---> 272 Coupes 179 Roadsters
2014: 232 total units ---> 129 Coupes & 103 Roadsters
2015: 17 units ----> 7 Coupes & 10 Roadsters
2721 Total Units

You tell me if there's more roadsters or gullwings...
