Apparently Radar Detectors will not penetrate the SLS windshield ..
At least that's what a high end audio shop in San Diego told me.
Does anyone here have a windshield mounted radar/laser detector installed?
If so I'd love your feedback
I was told my only option is mounting my Escort Radar in the grill

Side-note, but same theory - does anyone have an EZPASS in their SLS window? If so - where did you put it? All my other Mercedes have a 'spot' for the EZPASS that you can see - my SLS, I can't find it!

So...is this a "thing" in that the transponders and detectors can't cope with more modern auto-glass?

I have a windshield mounted valentine 1 and it works flawlessly. It's actually saved me quite a few times recently. I also have an EZpass (sun pass in FL) mounted to the right of my rear view mirror, no issues.

Funny, I used my EZPASS type thing in my SLS once and I didn't hear it go "beeeeep" as I went through the checkpoint. I've noticed it also doesn't seem to beep when placed in the Ghibli either (dual glazing and tint).

It's reassuring when they beep because you know it worked. Otherwise, they nail you for a few extra bucks to look up your plate (from the photo) and bill you that way. What a racket.

My dad has the 2014 SLS AMG Black Series and he tried to put a radar detector on and it did not work at all and he just gave up on it, they live in NJ as do I.
