Swap shift knob? How to?
I purchased this AMG shift knob to replace the one in my 2011 SLS. It looks like it will fit, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to remove the old one. I have pulled, twisted, pushed, yelled - nothing works. Any ideas?

Hmm, just a guess...I'm not around my car to look and confirm.
Look at the shifter from underneath, use a mirror if you have to. See if there isn't some tiny screw that is keeping the leather portion in place. If there is, remove the screw, take off the leather and there is probably another screw underneath holding the shifter in place.
If the leather is not attached by a screw, it may just be glued down. If that's the case, you may have to pry the leather off. Before you do that, study the new part closely to see if you can glean any clues from how it was put together.
Also, search YouTube. Didn't a lot of MB cars use a similar style shifter for a while? You can't be the first to go down this road.

Like CLS55 said, you need to pull VERY hard and twist. When I did it, I was surprised with how much force it required. the new shift knob looks so much better!!
