So some piece of crap decided to break into my car this weekend, and I'm sure too his surprise, there was nothing worth stealing. The worst part is, I talked to 2 MBZ dealers and both said it could take 4 weeks or more to get a replacement glass because they don't have one showing as available in the system. One even said even MBZ Germany didn't show any in stock and they might actually have to make one. WTF?
So I'm trying to hunt one down, new or used(hopefully in perfect condition), so my car isn't out of commission for a month or more. I'm going to check with them tomorrow but in the meantime, I want to search all options. Anyone know any shops or junk yards that might have one?
I searched for "Mercedes SLS OEM" on e-Bay and noticed a seller who appears to be parting out an SLS. Might be worth a try to contact the seller, "turbosonoma"
Houdini - terrible news. I lived in SF for 23 years and had a similar situation where they broke the window and took a laptop bag out of the back seat of my E55. Right in front of the guards at the Chinese Consulate on Geary Blvd.
One idea would be to call the European Collision Center - MBoSF uses them. While it is likely that they order parts through the dealer, there is also a possibility where they can help with local and regional parts suppliers. One option to ask them is to see if there is a non-OEM option to get you on the road while you wait for the OEM glass. This is what I did with a passenger side window for my Ghibli.

Supposedly no non-oem option for this car. Looks like someone parting out one is my best option right now.
Thanks guys. So I got the same response from the online vendors, doesn't exist in the USA. Needs to come from Germany, basically a month out. Working on hunting one down from the junkyards now.
