SLS prices skyrocketing
Prices have gone off the roof since the pandemic. 2 yrs ago prices were hovering around 150k for low mile gullwings. Now they are at around 250k and some even at 350k. Do guys think we will see them at 500k in 10yrs?

The graph at the bottom of this page shows prices are definitely going up. Too bad the price of gas has doubled in the last year - and the prices of everything else have also gone up. Let's go, Brandon.

I think what's helping prices of the C197 Gullwings/Roadsters is their direct lineage to the legendary and world-famous W198 Gullwings/Roadsters. BTW, gas prices have gone up because of too many flat earth politicians are refusing to help our country transition away from the planet killing fossil fuels.

Prices will always go up over time but down dramatically this year, In 3/22 the Solarbeam SLS Black Series sold for $735,000 on BAT while in 11/22, the same car in the same color at the same auction site had a top bid of $569,000, that's a 23% drop in 8 months. Same scenario applies to almost all collectibles including Rolexes, etc.. Money is tight and getting tighter!

Of all MB cars, the SLS seems to be the one steady, non-bs car that continues to appreciate. I would sell mine but I enjoy looking at it too much and driving it is a treat! Also don’t give a damn until gas is $15/gal. Until then f bran don

Can you please expound on your eeference to ownership, history? It's the one of the things that I struggle to understand since typically a Carfax only shows the number of owners and that is many times inaccurate.

for these 2 cars, the high priced one was 1 owner.......the lower priced one was a youtuber who abused the car

I inspected/researched both. I kick myself because I had a chance to buy the 1400 mile BS from the original owner 3 years ago. It was perfect! The lower priced car, which I inspected/researched before it was sold to the YouTuber, was not very desirable (I’ll leave it at that).

i just gave you a little insight....you have to do the rest of the digging yourself. Look at the BAT pics of the inside of the hood, the CF engine/battery covers, and front seat bolster. Im not even sure that is a USA car.

It is deffinitely a USA car per the MBUSA on the sticker! Yes that bolster looks damaged for 3000 miles. Probably heat/sun damage but otherwise looks clean but not as clean as the one sold in March. A good detailar can bring that leather and scratched CF back like new. Considering how rare this car is and at 3000 miles, there is not much to warrant a $200K discount 9 months later during 8% inflation!

The C197 SLS Black Series with only 134 built is becoming the modern version of the original W198 aluminum bodied Gullwings of which only 29 were built. I think the rarity of the more modern Black Series is behind the big price increase.
