How is this different than the InCarTronics unit? I know that mObridge is mentioned in the other thread, so is it that InCarTronics buys from mObridge and just repackages the units or are there other differences? I'm definitely interested in these units, but want to understand the pluses, minuses, and any compatability issues.

Man, that thing got some really nice features, but it's way too expensive for me...

I'm in, especially if we get to 10 units for the free iPod interface. California has the new hands-free law taking effect on July 1st. This seems better than driving around with an ear piece.

I'm interested. THe only concern I have is it looks like the unit will not work with the factory in dash CD changer. The documentation said something about using either the hands-free kit or the CD changer since they share the same spot on the MOST loop.

Does it pull your full phonebook into COMAND?
Can it use the digital TeleAid microphone? If not where does the mic go?

I contacted Mobridge a few months ago and asked about compatibility with a 2004 S600. The guy I spoke to said it was compatible, but I still don't see it listed as compatible. Any info on this?

The firmware development for cars with Siemens headunits was done first. Those include the CL, SL and S.

david - u r correct... the iPod interface will work as CD changer (kinda like DICE kit)... if u'd rather keep the CD changer, u can disable the iPod interface from mObrdige and just use it for Bluetooth phone... that's what i'm gonna do as well...

musicmax - since it's using parrot technology, i'm sure phonebook upload will work as i had parrot kit on my ML b4... i think it pulls phonebook record that's stored on ur SIM card...

I'm interested as well, but I'm wondering how this differs from the incartronics unit I just installed on my car. I have 2 friends who also have w211s, and I bought the incartronics unit for me as the guinea pig, and it works. Of course when I come to the forum to post my success, I see this thread.

I have to buy two more units (for my friends - they're not technically inclined), and am wondering about this one. If this is a better deal, I can just return my incartronics unit and purchase 3 of these...

So, does anyone know what the differences are?

pretty sure this is the product for me so i'm 95% in.

couple of answers would tip me over the edge:

how does a group buy work exactly? i'm in UK, will this cause any issues other than additional p&p costs?

MJ50, you say ipod interface will be free and usually costs $100. maybe i'm missing something but isn't this a $600 mobridge audio system with a bluetooth bolt on? (ie the bluetooth bit is the $100 attachment, not the ipod bit?)

GB works like any other group buy...
get min # of buyers, pay payment and ship the goods...
i already have factory BT puck w/ tail but my friend will take my spot for GB instead...
and shipping to overseas including UK is $25 extra.

I recommend... you turn off the caps lock.

For an '03 C class, your option is DICE. http://www.diceelectronics.com/Merch...ode=i-mercedes

The main board has the iPOD kit already built into it. The Bluetooth is a bolt on board from Parrot. If you have the BT and iPOD then it emulates CD stacker and Phone in the cluster.

If you ALREADY have a CD stacker it will actually still work but its not really sensible to have 5000 songs and 6 CD's. There is no logic in that.

The main cost of the iPOD kit is the developer fees from Apple and various other companies who all want a slice of the action.

Mobridge = InCarTronics = Ventura = anyone else in the branding game. Mobridge made it.
