Tune
Are we gonna need a new tune now that we install these with our 185 mm pulley?

At this time our headers will only work on the C32 .

We have not test fitted these on the SLK32.

You HAVE to have a tune with a 185 pulley.

If you already have a 185 and a tune, a retune will be optimal, but not absolutely necessary.

I've been running these shorty's with my 185 without a retune and they have made all the difference! It's a crazy torque monster now. Waaaay more fun to drive than just the 185. Best mod I've done in a while. Very VERY happy with it's performance. I think it's also reduced boost pressure from a Max of 22 PSI with the 185 down to around 20 PSI.

I highly recommend them.

How do you think the long tube headers compare to the shortys? You can't beat $650 shipped. How long do you guys think it would take a decent shop to install these?

i think the LTs make 15 or so more whp. Jake (or whoever's handle the OP belongs to), correct me if i'm incorrect

install time depends on your tech's abilities. i've seen quotes for 6 hours , though helped my guy install it and 2.5 and he had never worked on an MB before. ever.

tune is 100% needed with the 185 pulley as GrammaBenz (greg) said. It is unsafe to go WOT otherwise. I have the headers on my car without a retune and i'm fine, but you will see more power after retuning for them.

Sound is nice too. Make sure you do the res delete for the best sound IMO.

It will probably pass the emissions test, but not the visual inspection.

My mechanic who had never done it before took about 3 hours all by himself.

OH YEAH!! Love the sound now. I was thinking about removing my secondary cats before, but not any longer!

LT's do make more power, but at a price point over 2x this. Typical install is 2 hours

A great mod for the price

I don't see them having a problem passing the Smog test because our headers retain the factory cats and are a direct replacement for the factory manifolds. Just like Gramma benz said it might not pass the visual inspection tho

IIRC, "book time" for a header swap is 2-2.5 hours per side. Maybe splinter or someone can chime in to confirm exactly what it is. Most reputable shops seem to charge based on published book times, from what I've seen. YMMV, but 2 hours total labor would be a gift.

Agree that LT's should flow quite a bit better. AFAIK, these shorties retain all factory cats, and maintain the OEM flange sizes... which'll eventually be the bottlenecks in the exhaust system.

Nice price for SS shorties, BTW.

mine took just a tiny bit longer then that.....its really not too bad to be honest. you could even do it yourself if you dont mind getting a bit dirty and have the tools.

Evidence that high performance and low emissions are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Apparently that bottle of my smog tech’s preferred beverage during the holidays improves his visual acuity.

Heck of a price on your pipes, Eurocharged. Good luck with the sale.
