210 E55 vs 211 E55 on top end

I know that the 211 is much quicker than the 210 down low. I'm curious as to how close they are once you get into triple digit speeds and the supercharger begins to lose steam. How close are the cars in performance if you were running them side by side, lets say at 120 mph, and floored them? Would the performance gap begin to narrow, stay the same, or widen?

1. Were the cars equal in horsepower, the only gnat's pube of an advantage the 210 has is a slightly better rear end ratio at 2.82 compared to 2.65 on the 211

2. Since the cars are not equal in horsepower, the massively higher power of the 211 trumps any tiny advantage the 210 has in the gearing dept.

3. Superchargers do not "run out of steam". The 211 makes way more horsepower on the top end than the 210 does which proves this.

ltuner9,

I've had both, an '02 E55 and an '03 E55. X55 is right on the money, the W211 does not lose steam on top, it's actually quite the contrary.

The W211 is faster from just about any speed to any speed... it should be, it's the next generation and that's what it's supposed to be, better.

^^ Same here. I've own(ed) both the 210/211. The 210 is fast, the 211 is just a beast.

I have an 02 with about 15,500 miles on it. Never actually driven a 211. I will have to do that. I have seen articles in some of the enthusiast mags that speak of the 211 "losing steam" at the top end and wondered if there was much difference at that point between it and the 210 at that point. It will be interesting to see how the new na 6.3 engine does against the 211 in that area.

Losing steam? I dont know what kind of W211 they were driving but my impressions are this car pulls HARDER the faster you are going. It is relentless acceleration. The only thing that stops this thing at the top end is the VMAX. Other than that, it pulls like a freight train!
