'00 E55 trouble...misfire...HELP!!!

Accelarating last night under partial throttle, it got to about 3200 rpm and sputtered and stalled (did not stop running but was barely accelarating). Check engine light came on immediately after and car no longer sputtered. But now feels as if it has no power. Hesitates extremely now when pushing the throttle and barely climbs through the rpm til about 4k then feels more normal. Read the codes and stated misfire on #5 and #7 cylinder...Whats wrong?! Bad plugs? bad coil? bad gas? I live in MN and its right around 10F degrees. Car is parked in heated garage. Possibility of condensation in tank/lines? I did run tank to just about empty just a few days before? Or is all that a myth? what should i do or check first?

DUDE!! another MN'er with an E55....and here i thought i was all alone!!!

congrats on the E55. we are one of VERY few. i have only seen 1 other black one (01 or 02) and silver 99 that i was going to buy from a dealer. where do you live? details on your car???

as for the sputtering, sorry man, i have no idea. how many miles do you have on it. our spark plugs are suppose to last to 100K. if your in the Eden Prairie area, go visit Holman Automotive. he is my mechanic, very knowledgable on these cars...

pm me if you need more info! good luck!

Maybe the MAF sensor, starting to go.. what is the mileage on your car?

MAF most likely. Common problem.

MAF sensor would be the first guess. Possibly spark plug wires or coil packs...but I'd start with the MAF sensor.

53,000 miles.

I'm from St. Cloud. Bought the car in Nov. and I LOVE it. Nothin too special about the car. Black on black, no nav. So far have added 15% tint and K&N's. Looking for rims but I'm finding it VERY hard to find a rim that I think would look good. More than likely will leave the stock ones on and possibly lower it. Only complaint about the car is the damn brake dust that collects on the rims. clean em pretty much 2-3 times a week. How long have you had yours? details on yours?

Congrats man!!! good to hear of anohter MN'er... just got mine in Sept b/c my other car was getting the motor ripped out and i was tired of riding the bike to work rain or shine. mine is black on black, loaded with every option except parktronic. i did the resonator delete mod and put in an x-pipe in place. put tinted tails on it too. other then that, bone stock...

will see ya around.. any luck on the sputtering???

no luck on the sputtering, haven't driven it for a few days due to the snow. I'll dig into it more this week. I'd like to do the exhaust mod..how does it sound? does it make it much louder? By the way, we have VERY similar taste. I'm not lucky enough to own them all at once but my previous car was a 99 C5, a few bolt ons, rims, yada yada yada, and I recently sold my 02 Gixxer 1000 was the red and black and I had polished rims, frame, swingarm and so on. Where are you from by the way?

Whoa! wicked man! so you've had a vette and a gix! damn, this is uncanny...

i live right near the UofM. just graduated last spring.

yea, i have the 01' 750 in red/black/silver. looking to sell that right now. actually had a guy email me from st. cloud, but no response. i want to move up to a 04'/05' R1.

and ou had a vette too! nuts. why did you sell it??? i think that car is the best bang for the buck! i love mine. wouldn't sell it (unless the right offer came along). mine is completly modded. lets just say, the engine alone is worth more then the car... here is a pic of it:

you don't happen to have a chevy truck of some sort do ya??? LOL... i have a suburban too, procharged and tricked out to match the others... LOL...

good luck on the E55...check the things the others were mentioning... hopefully one of those issues will solve the problem.
