another f430 story-short run & done

would you believe it...driving home today (101 northbound into Marin just over GG)and see lights slicing through traffic until the car reaches me...black f430 w/ no plates (laws of attraction? ) from Ferrari/Mill Valley (Marin Cty dealer). as soon as the nose nudged just slightly ahead I sped up a little, he mashes it, and I respond. from 40-45mph up to 80, i jumped about a car length then slowed. as he came along side i mash it again (fairly open lanes for about 1/2 mile it seemed) and he blinkers over to far right lane, then weaves through traffic into the evening. never looked over or acknowledged anything...i laughed to myself. maybe car too new to WOT, or maybe he didn't care too, but that f-car engine was whining...just not fast enough, I guess. not sure this even counts as kill. whatever. good wknd all. next...

Very nice. That strip from the Golden Gate to Mill Valley is a sweet sweeping twisty down hill. I can hear the two cars screaming as they blast through rainbow tunnel now....

am 560 & 605 hp/tq at crank post dyno. pre dyno at crank believe was 510 & 540 hp/tq. renn suggets using 1.23 (~23% drive-train loss) for conversion from rwh/rwt to crank.

23% driveline loss? Is it really that much? I thought more like 15%.

from renntech site at dyno graph page...

"Dyno Notes:
Performance Package 1

Performance Package 2

Performance Package 3

Performance Package 4

Performance Package 5

Performance Package 6
All graphs show wheel horsepower and torque. To find crank horsepower and torque, multiply value by 1.23. This accounts for drivetrain losses.

Engine power output depends on many variable and thus values vary from car to car. Ambient temperature, altitude, engine mileage, as well as other factors can all have significant effects on engine output and dyno readings."

must be something to it as there are a couple e55 w/ RT-1 w/ drag slips showing 1/4 times 11.6-11.8 and trap 120-121 w/ no slicks. think the hp/tq would need to be there given weight of saloon to accomplish those runs even w/ solid pilot.

I believe Kleemann says to use a 19% loss. Who's right?

Multiplying the rwhp by 1.23 is the same (close enough) as taking .81 (19%) from the crank hp.

500 x 1.23 = 615

615 x .81 = 498.15

*edit* 15% loss is considered the norm for a manual transmission, automatics are higher loss, so 19% is probably right.

thanks, Adam. my error/mis-type on conversion metric (1.23) and its correlation to dt loss ~19%, vs 23%.

my dynojet graphs can be found at thread here by search "e55 dyno today-renntech-1-install"

my friend owns F430 Spider F1 and that thing is as fast as my 03 E55 under 80mph then F starts to walk away. my only mod is snorkle tube and lighter 19" rims. 480hp and 730nm dynoed without snorkle and after 2000 miles. couple pics www.tavakka.com/ajoa
