Just bought a 2001 E55 AMG!!!
I can't believe it, I bought a car sight unseen on ebay.. I'm going to inspect the car and if it's a POS I'll just walk, I don't care if i get a negative feedback.

i'm used to seeing that price for 99s with 120k miles!

Congratulations on your purchase. I recently purchased an E55 and have been very happy with the performance. I also have an E420 like yourself and both are night and day when comparing performance. Hope you're satisfied when inspected.

WOW! Excellent find! 17k ,70k miles. You got very lucky like I did when I bought my C43 in 2004. I got it for 15k 73k miles when alot of them were going for 18k+ on E-bay. Some are still going for 13 to 15k now if not more depending ! Sometimes you have to just wait and look and things turn up on ebay. Again good find and I'm jealous! Enjoy!

Better to pull an MB mech to the side and let him chk it out off hours for a few bucks. The delership has a habit of just having you randomly replace things sometimes. When I bought my car I chkd it out for myself. The dealerships are a joke!

I agree, I just bought mine about a month ago and had my MB Tech that I know and trust check mine out as well. The stealership might just wanna try and make money off of you but telling you that there a bunch of things wrong with the car when in actually everything is fine.

Just an update:
So I will be driving down this Saturday to inspect the car and bring her home if she checks out. After doing most of the maintenance and repair work myself on the E420, I'm quite familiar with this chassis and I will inspect her carefully.
I've been talking with the selling dealer and he's a good guy. He's actually quite knowledgeable about Mercedes & other European cars, which I did not expect from a tiny dealership owner in OH/WV hickville LOL
He paid $17,600 (has proof) at a dealer auction for this car. So he actually lost money with this sale. I think I lucked out because for some reason the seller had the auction end at 4:30AM on Sat...
I should also mention that even at auctions, a mint 01 E55 with 70k miles will almost always fetch quite more than $17,600.

Yep, I agree... dealer's auction for this car similar mileage is $17K... the lowest one I see is $16K (so far).
If the car is good, you're very lucky. People are hesitant buying a car at eBay from seller w/ few feedbacks. Plus... the listing ended at 1AM???
Duh!!! Any seller should know that the bidding war usually happens <5 minutes before the auction ends. LOL.
