Removing chewing gum from floormat?

What's the best method of removing chewing gum from a floormat please? I've picked at it with my fingernails, but it's a real bugger to get off.

Place several ice cubes in something like a sandwich bag and let it sit on the gum until it's hard/frozen and then start picking.

Nice one Xabo!

I'll try that.

Hi mate

Hope you're well.

As far as I know there is an actual product on the market that is designed to be sprayed on which allows you to literally pick off the offending substance. Cant think of the name off the top of my head, but it is based on some kind of Co2 delivered nitrogeon substance.

Although Xabo's ice cube solution is definitely a cheaper alternative to begin with!

Hi Nath

Thanks, at least one way or another that revolting stuff is coming off.

Peanut oil works very well on chewing gum, as well as a lot of adhesives. And it smells good!

can of commpress air

get a can of compressed air used to blow dust off computer and spray it up side down, using the liquid of of the can. Instance liquid nitrogoen. It frezze the gum up for a good 10-15 second.

Success!

Thanks for all the suggestions, in the end, I got it off by using one of those plastic suede shoe brushes with the really stiff bristles, a bowl of soapy water & a bit of elbow grease. The chewing gum came away in tiny pieces, stuck to the bristles on the brush
