Question: Can you run as much boost as you please?
.......Answer: YES!.
.......engine rebuild with sleeving of all 8 cylinders, Carillo rods and low compression pistons, 8.5:1 compression ratio.
........Kleemann s/c with * rib 60mm s/c pulley
........14% overdrive 8 rib ASP crank pulley. https://www.aspracing.com/ezRetail/s...php?msg_id=394
.....custom 8 rib Kleemann s/c pulley, 8 rib aluminum alternator pulley, 8 rib power steering pulley, smooth idler pulley, 8 rib belt tensioner.
........Biggest problem...........there is no 8 rib ac compressor pulley for W210 or W208 or W209. Problem solved! Custom 8 rib ac compressors for W210 and W208 and W209. Pics below.
.........Result. 8.5:1 compression, 16lbs of boost Kleemann s/ced W210. I need tires!!!!!

Ted,
Any downside to this? I'm guessing you're running 16lbs of boost now? Where can we get the custom 8 rib ac compressors for W210? PM me if you like. This is good news indeed!

.........In order to convince the company to make the a/c compressors, I had to purchase five of them. I have 3 left. Anyone can have them for $1500 each. This is basically the same price as an oem 6 rib a/c compressor from the dealer. Reason to go to 8 rib system is that that the stock 6 rib system cannot handle the boost and results in belt shreading.

Thanks Ted. Need to save up some money for that. Just bought a complete CF kit so money is tight. So by buying that compressor kit is that all i would need or do i need to get the pulley as well? How long did the insallation take?

.........The ac compressor is the most difficult part of part. To go from 6-rib to 8 rib, you would need to swap all your pullies to 8 rib pullies. Any machine shop can make you 8 rib versions of the other pullies but not the ac compressor.

Awesome!
Ted, any dyno numbers yet to share with us? Would I run into problems if I switched to the 8 rib pulley's without the engine rebuild as you described? Wondering how much boost I would gain? Currently running kleemann s/c 65mm pulley custom built when donnie installed....so is the 8 rib 60mm available from Kleemann or did a machine shop make the s/c pulley with the remaining pulleys? If no problems would arise, I may be interested in your 8 rib ac compressor. I want that feeling of stealing something, the adrenaline is addictive. Thanks.

very nice project Ted
are you running the same boost on the g55 as well or just one at a time for now?
very impressive though, sound of that must be pretty loud too

........No dyno numbers yet. I am currently in Florida. I flew down to Atlanta last week to test drive the car for four days. It was fantastic. My car ran a best et 0f 11.8secs well before I started these mods. I am actually not sure that the car will be officially faster due to traction issues. I suppose I'm intellectually pleased that I was able to do it. You have no idea how many were unwilling to listen as I tried to explain what I wanted to do. I wish I was a mechanic. I am good at thinking up things, researching them to make sure that they are feasible, but I cannot do the job myslef. Finding a mechanic to listen is difficult. I don't really blame them, though.

...........Everything was custom made. You probably should not increase your boost without lowering your compression.

.........The design of the W211 is a bit different. There are two belts. A 6 rib belt and an 8 rib belt. The 6 rib belt runs the accessories. The 8 rib belt runs the crank and connects to the s/c pulley. This allows you to increase your boost without overdriving your accessories. Notice also that Mb chose to use an 8 rib instead of a 6 rib belt for the crank and s/c, because they are high boost applications. Same in the C32. This belt upgrade is frquently done by owners of other makes and models during high boost supercharger installation. In those instances the pullies are readily available off the shelf from various vendors. As far as I know, this is the first high boost aftermarket s/c in a Mercedes. You may have heard of the Renntech "high boost s/c, " but the boost is about 8lbs.

.........I now have a better appreciation for the importance of chasis design. My car is so outrageous currently that I do not see how it can be any faster. Everything just goes towards tire shreading. The w210 chasis was definitely not intended to have done to it what I and others have done to it, but it sure is fun!

Ted when you get your E55 back in FL you need to bring it out to one of the events at Tower Shops in Davie or EuroStage 1st Sunday of the month. I will like to see it in person.
