A half pair of shoes

My rear tires are at the tread-bar, and my front tires appear to be 5K miles from the tread-bar. Given this situation, what would most members do; replace all four or just the rears for now? I feel like I'm going to buy a new pair of shoes with one nearly worn out.

If front and rear are both close I'd replace both at the same time.

a while back I ran over some piece of metal which took out one of my rears... tires had about 10k on them... Ended up buying 2 new rear tires.

I have the same situation and I think I might just replace the rears since the fronts still have so much tread and I think might last until I need to replace the rears again and at that time i'll replace all four.

make sense?

I would just replace the rears...do the fronts when they need it.

If you're gonna replace the rears w/ the same brand as the fronts, I said just buy the rears....

I once replaced the rears only w/ different brand. Front was Potenza S03 Pole w/ 40% treads; rear was Dunlop Direzza. The car wiggled so much that it was scary to drive on U.S. ugly highways. Could be the rears were not broken in yet... but could be different patterns react differently.

Once I replaced the fronts, the wiggles gone.

So my 2c... replace rear first... if your car wiggles, replace the fronts.

I would just replace the backs and do the fronts whenever. If is was still the winter I would say do both but just wait to do the fronts.

Well, on a normal car I would replace them all, if they where worn bad. But since they are staggered, you might be better off getting the rears, if they are worse, and wait to get the fronts.
