Price Check - Potential new E55 Owner
Hi guys,
I'm currently looking at purchasing a 2000 E55 AMG. It's Silver with two-tone interior, dark blackish wood trim inside. Seems like it has carbon fiber(ish) window blades.
It has 74k miles, seems to be in great shape (will be getting a PPI of course), has heated seats, nav system (although doesn't have the CDs I need).
Runs smooth, such a sweet car for being 8 years old. I tried not to grin too much when test driving it..didn't want to show my cards.
Anyways, asking price for the car is $15,500. I think it seems about right, but I want to make sure. Maybe can haggle him down a bit. What are your thoughts on price?
Side note, where can I get the CD for the Nav system? BTW I'm in Arizona.

That's actually a very good price... with a little more negotiating, maybe you can get it down to an even 14K especially if you have cash in hand (
show me the money!)?
A thorough PPI is a must. Have your local MB service run the VIN for a VMI too. It will reveal service history if serviced at the dealership as well as open/closed campaign recall work performed. Obviously, run the carfax too (PM me if you need help in this one). Nav CD's from eBay, from classified ads in the forums, or the stealership.
Trying to hold back a big grin while you drive this executive rocket-ship is sometimes difficult to conceal...

I actually will need help with the CarFAX, but I didn't write down the VIN.
Are there certain discs I need for the Nav? Which disc is for AZ? Are there discs that will only work in certain cars? or all the same?

steal. Sold my blk/ 2 tone with like similar miles for like 19k 6 or 8 months ago. oh but it was an 01 depending how much that matters to you or not.

I missed out on the E55, but it was probably for the better. Would have probably been a stretch for me.
I am the proud new owner of an E430 though. Silver/Grey, Chrome wheels.
Handles like a dream. Now I know why people buy Mercedes.

Hey benzbar, this is probably a weird question...could I possibly get a carfax for my own E55? I'm trying to sell it and I would like to have one available to people if they want. I ran one when I bought it last year, but I didn't save a copy. The VIN is WDBJF74J8YB073095.

$15-20k is pretty much the range for E55s now. It has surprisingly been stable in that area for quite some time now. I don't think it will drop much lower then that for at least another year. The CLK55 market is now falling back to the same level. for a while the CLK55s were selling for $10k more than W210 E55s, then $5k, now they are starting to equalize and they should remain in the $15-20k range until at least next spring. After that though they could drop to the 12-18k range for both. I doubt they will ever really depreciate much more then that. Certain cars have "final resting places" when it comes to price. C36/C43s are in the $6-10k range and nothing will really change that, I htink E55/CLk55 will eventually be in the $10-18k range over the next two years and stay within that range. etc etc

there is a 2001 E55 with 101K miles on it for sale locally. Asking $12,900, it is in very good condition. Could not see a dent or a scratch on this car anyware. New tires/brakes. No nav, though that doesnt bother me....I think with cash I could get them down maybe to 12K....Is this a good price? worth it? Things to look out for?
