e55. Amg engine cut out at low speed/ revs!!!

Hi all, slight problem with my e55 amg, at low speeds of say 20mph when I overtake the engine cuts out and the car shudders forward in a jumping movement, powers up instantly and keeps cutting out untill I back off the throttle! It feels like the car is about to run out of fuel, wierd and very dangerous feeling as I almost died twice this morning on a few roundabouts! But at high ish speeds its fine and goes well! Any ideas? I've just taken off Twin cone filters and replaced with k&n panel filters last week, could this have done something to it?
any help appreciated as I need to get it sorted asap!

hi, its a bit slower than usual, was thinking about the maf...or possibly crank sensor. It feels as if I'm pumping throttle in and out and the engine cuts out and comes back on every second or so untill I back off and pull away gentaly! Really really scary pulling out of junctions and overt taking!

Did you wipe down the K&N's before installing? if it happen like a week after. I'll bet its the MAF... look up my name I have well explained write up on how to.... 6k miles later.. runs like a Champ.. don't forget to reset your ecu if you decide to go this route.

Codes: 0170; 0173 = faulty MAF sensor. However, I'll place my bet on the crank position sensor. Good luck.

Thanks for the help, im taking her to a merc specialist today for a chat and see what they come up with! My saab 9-5 was doing the same thing last year so i've got a suspicion its the crank sensor! Ill let you know later.....unless a truck takes me out on a junction!

Interesting findings my car will jump as well BUT only when she's cold.. I would imagine its because the engine is cold.. I could be wrong.

I suppose one of the Senior reps can jump in
