how should e55 w210 engine sound?

Im a new owner here with a 00 e55 106k mi
I notice that engine does not sound smooth, i notice some ticking and its not the spark thingy or whatever its called i hear it on my gf e320 so I know that's normal on mercedes but this is different Im concerned with ticking noise seems to be on the passenger side of the motor more. Even with the hood closed I can tell it kinda sounds odd. Now I took the car to Mercedes dealership and they told me that noise was normal on an AMG car. Is this true or do I need to be concerned here?

Hahaha, the sound is really not a ticking, is an ENGINE SOUND! sounds like a loud UUUUUUUUUUUUUUU caracteristicaly the 55 N/A engine, no worry alex! all our 55's engine have this loud sound, is normal, the s55 n/a, clk55 ml55 have this special noise, the c43's have that, but a little too, i don't have an answer for the noise really, i made me this answer for a long time ago WHAT's THIS SOOOUND??? but i can't get the answer yet, maybe is the intake manifold or so, one day i unmount the strap & start the engine for a seconds to know if the sound are some pulley but no.. is an special amg engne sound is not a problem bro.. """take care! the alternator bearings produce a big noise when are bad, the first little superior plastic pulley too!! check them"""

Hope this help

Well at least I know I'm not alone
I was really worried there for a little that I might have a messed up engine even those it does pull like a freight train.
I did find this http://www.mercedesshop.com/Wikka/M119OilGuides looks like that will get rid of the noise if someone wants it done, otherwise sounds like it is no problem leaving it the way it is.
Thanks for the input guys

Absoluttly No AMGALEX, this tip is correct but only for the M119 Engine. Our M113's not have this rails, cause our engines are a single camshaft per head, the ticking noise not provide of the rails in the m113, the ticking sound in our engines provide for a deffective valve lifters (you do not can replace a single lifter, the lifters in the 113 engine are a complete rail with all 12 lifters per head)

The engine noise you describe in yur engine:
sounds like a tic - tic - tic - tic - tic?? or sounds like a BEAST? BRUUUUUUUU hahahahah

UPDATE:
Ok guys I think i figured out the noise problem, I don't know for sure if it was the lifters or something else but I did find a way to make the noise go away.
First: Seafoamed the engine thruegh vacuum tube (noticed maybe 30% reduction in noise or maybe ot was in my head)
Second: after only 2000mi after oil change after looking at the filter i noticed sludge and residue of some sort, Oil also looked dirty. So today went and changed the oil once again with Penzoil Platinum Synthetic. Right after change , engine sounds the same. I took the car out and ran a few 1/4 mi runs came back and a miricle happened! 80% of the noise is gone, I even had my gf come and listen if the car sounds different and its confirmed, its quieter.
I suspect that maybe sludge builds up over time and causes lifters to stick or something of that nature that has to do with build up of gunk.

Im not sure the ticking you are talking about, but there is some metal part, beside the engine that makes an electrical ticking noise, that's not what you're talking about right?

Yeah, I was going to mention the headlight housing looks different, but the wiper looked W210ish, wasn't sure if any other benz models came with that single wiper.

It's actually 24 pounds of lead encased in rubber to "dampen chassis vibrations". The 124 cab had that and another one in the floor of the trunk....not like it helped much, you could still see the windshield header shake when you hit bumps.

anyways back to the original topic:

Im 100% positive the engine is making less noise. Im thinking its because of gunk built up that might be related to slow driving of the previous owner and 15,000mi oil changes . After my driving aggressively gunk came loose and the noise stopped.
I just cant figure out why it stopped after an oil change after only 2000mi on fresh oil..
