Generally the M113's clack sounds are provided by the valve lifters.. you can replace the timing chain (120 k on it need to change) but if the sound still in your engine you can replace your 24 small lifters & solve this issue

George,

Did you measure how much stretch you had in your chain?
Most of the time a new tensioner/spring will take that 5 hit chain clack out on cold start. Good job rolling the new one in, did you use a lock clip or peen the master link closed?

Timing chain noise

George, did the clack go away after you put in a new chain?

I used to hear the same noise, it appears to be coming from the valves cover on both sides.
I solved my issue By changing the oil, it was old and the car was garaged for 4 months.

Good luck,
Faiz
