Ok to run a 100k mile E55 hard?

My mechanic almost has title to the '02 E55. It's been almost 3 months of waiting from the DMV but I'm hoping another 2-3 weeks. My question is how many of you with over 100k on your E55 make regular 120+ runs and how often? I know it depends on how well the car was maintained as well and this one has been. I've always been of the philosophy of not driving a 100k mile car hard from fear something would let loose on a higher mileage car. I know things can break but I'm thinking a hand built AMG engine would take a lot more abuse (or spirited driving) than a non AMG motor. Test drove a '99 with 75k. The owner said I could exercise it so I took it up to 125 and it was very stable. Great guy, had a Bentley Turbo in the garage as well. Any thoughts?

You'll be fine, and might I advise an ECU reset if the last owner drove like a granny. Let the tranny adapt to those full throttle runs.

Come on, everyone knows driving a 100k E55 hard will blow the motor, don't do it.

The answer is right there! Enjoy your AMG to the fullest.
I regularly take my m119's over over 120, Im sure your hand built AMG can do it without breaking a sweat!

P.S. My 99 has 80K...and I drive her pretty dam hard. TOO FUN TO NOT PUSH IT!! Just take care of it right away, oil change, tranny flush and diff oil changed, filters, etc.... maintenance is key!

I beat the living ***** out of my car every day I drive it. It's still rock solid. 125k, 40k of which was put on this past year (april-april). A lot of 1st gear pulls, burnouts occasionally, pealing out...(don't forget i'm only 19...) It's very strong and as long as you keep up on your preventative maintenance and obviously regular, you'll be good. Just make sure to get a PPI, and FYI i bought mine at 82,500, with no service history past 40k but took it to 3 mechanics.

Mine had 92k And I regularly tale it to 155. Tire/wheel maintenance and suspension will be your primary concern more so than the engine.

You'll be fine as long as you take care of her. These cars can last for over 400,000 miles just replace what breaks and feed it good fuel and oil.

**Remember for high speed runs it's not the engine it's the tires and sus. keep them both up to par!

I've had my E430 with 110K mi over 100 and frequently do full throttle accelleration freeway merges with shifts at redline and the car seems to love it as much as I do. These cars have pretty strong drivelines so I wouldn't worry about that. Just make sure your tires are in good shape and properly inflated and your shocks are not gone before doing any high speed runs. Also, don't forget to keep your eyes on the rear view mirror. Out here, I understand that if you are caught going over 100, they can take you into custody and impound your car.

Good thing you don't know first hand! They could. I use a V1 as it does help in some areas. With 24 and 680, it's very easy to get tempted to open it up once and awhile. Thanks everyone for your responses thus far.

135,500K on mine and she's been down the interstate numerous times getting cut off by the governer at just under 160mph. I race just about everything I see with four wheels in my town on a daily basis so I'd say punch the gas and let her do what she was born to do. . . . GO BIG OR GO HOME!
