Thanks for the kind words Brian. I'd prefer not to elaborate on our interactions with regard to this project.

More photos and a video will be posted when I feel that the project has reached a successful conclusion. I may be able to get a sound bite to whet your appetite...

It excites me in ways that make my wife jealous... but she has been very patient and understanding of my affair

I have been out of the country but now that I am back, I shall be heading over to Infineon where the beast has been tucked away during my absence. There is a significant amount of work left to be done, ranging from tuning to aesthetic issues. She has a very talented team working on her and I am very excited to bring her out, "when the time is right."

If I just wanted to drag race then I suppose things could have been sorted quite quickly but I prefer full course driveability and the early W210 ECU is not as adaptable as the later W210 ECU hence the need to really step back and see where each of the factory roadblocks were before resuming the tuning process. Suspension tuning is another issue that has been running me in circles and multiple setups as I try to find that "perfect" balance of track/canyon carver that can also negotiate real world obstacles like odd driveways and speedbumps safely. I certainly have an even greater appreciation of the fine work that was done when AMG first tuned the W210 to bring us the "original E55". I can say without reservation that the Brembo Gran Turismo 355mm/6/4 piston monoblock setup is one of the finest aftermarket setups that I have experienced. It is beautifully balanced and fade free.

Anyways, I don't want to threadjack Max's writeup. sorry if I was rambling.

BTW Max on all that you have managed to accomplish. Very nice. I especially like the way you integrated the AEM FIC in the CLK project. If I understand correctly, you are also trying to sort the adaptability limitations of the ECU at part throttle/load or have you found a solution? I wasn't sure whether you were merely adding a map change to the AEM FIC or had found a way to get the factory ECU to accomodate on-boost fueling needs smoothly. Or perhaps the CLK has the newer/more adaptive ECU... Kudos on your great work.

Using the o2 skew function I can effectively make a "tip-in" map that will handle the part-throttle boost fueling. It works by subtracting voltage to the primary o2 sensor which makes the car think it's running too lean and it adds the necessary fuel to the system to get the correct on boost fueling. At first this did not work but with the use a capacitor paralleled on the o2 sensor wires going to and from the FIC it allowed it transmit the correct voltages.

Hey there Max,

Thanks for the quick and detailed reply to my question. I'll definitely want to ask you some more in depth questions in the next week or so.

Merry Christmas

how did this pan out in the long run? any reliability issues from you guys adding turbos? looking to add a turbo to my benz and looks like AEM FIC might be the way to go? looking for some advice or things you'd do differently from those who have embarked on this same journey before
