Lightweight Optima Battery writeup...
Hey guys,
Just thought I would link you to the Optima battery writeup for those interested in shedding some of the weight off their E55s. This is for CLK55 specifically, but should be almost the same for your cars, the only difference being your battery is located under passenger rear seat cushion.

Hope that helps,

I hate to bring up this from the grave, but Im in a little pickle.
The dealership says I have a battery that can not hold a charge, and that it would cost me around $500 for a new battery (not happy about it but what ever).
I am interested in a lighter battery and less expensive.
Has anyone else tried this battery in our E55s?
Is there an Aftermarket battery brand that makes batteries for our car?

I bought a VARTA Blue Dynamic. 6 KG lighter then stock. Works great!

In hindsight, I would recommend the Odyssey PC680, its only 12 lbs and can be drained down and recharged a hundred times. You need a special battery box for it, but it really is the best option for a car that is driven frequently (at least once every 2-3 days).
The Optimas are essentially completely dead once you drain them down once and are never the same.
Hope that helps

I went to AUTOZONE today and they had the Duralast 49 DL. But I asked one of their sales reps and they said that in there computer system the best battery was the H8-DLG Duralast Gold for a 2002 E55 AMG. any one with additional information?
It looks the same as the stock battery.
