e55 strait pipes
Does anyone here have strait pipes instead of a x- pipe?.........I just bought an eisenman race exhaust and was going cut my resonator out...my guy said 2 do. The str8t pipes.........wuts the difference between them?

Nope.. the X pipe equal the (-) negative pressure in the 2 banks, maybe you canot feel the difference between the stright pipes instead the X pipe, cause in a 350hp engine you cant feel a real difference with 2 or 3 more HP's but the X pipe works a lot better (technically)

The Xpipe need to be placed as short as possible to the exhaust manifolds (best place in our cars is the secondary cats)

im gonna go with X-pipe inplace of resonator and do Dual cherrybomb glasspacks for quad tips setup in couple weeks as soon as i can find OEM amg tips that have straight inlets (not curved up like all of them)

IS NOT MY CAR! but the sens is the same ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
This is the most efective sequence (with hi flow primarys for best)![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Forgot to tell u. my car is an euro spec with 2 O2's sensors only (no CEL in the cluster when you mod the exhaust after cats) some US spec cars have 4 O2's sensors, if is this your case maybe you got a CEL with moded exhaust cause the ME detect a faulty ambient fumes.. if you have 2 O2's only no worry about

if you just do straight pipes with no X-pipe, you will make less power than if you do with X-pipe.
The picture fabio included is actually a good setup, mandrel bent w/ X-pipe and no 2nd cats. Granted it will probably sound decently loud and drone may be slightly an issue. But all things considered its probably the best way to make the most power out of the OEM system (that plus high flow primary cats).

O2s are only before / after primaries, no O2s on secondaries so you can do whatever you want with secondaries. Get a nice 300-cell metal core high flow cat (it will ensure no CEL issues). If you put X-pipe where 2nd cats are you should get very good results (although it will be on the loud side)...

X-pipe alone made 8wheel HP on the top end on a loading dyno. High flow cats make about 10HP/12TQ @ wheels on dyno. But the bulk of the gains are in the headers. The W210 headers really transform the car, nothing else comes even close. Xpipe+cats+ECU doesn't even give the power gains of Headers alone.... it really does transform the car.
The best route is to simply do Stage 4 (headers, pulley, cats/x-pipe, ECU). If you do all that the car will be seriously quick, and it doesn't cost much to do everything, probably under $2k total for parts. Used to be back in the day that would cost almost $5k
