W210 E-55 Fuel mileage?
On a recent 3 day trip, I drove about 700 miles, about 90% was highway, and got 24.5 on the first day, and on the last day 25.6, with average speed of 67mph (included long stretches of 85-90).

BTW, my '00 CLK430 ragtop barely gets 15 MPG in combined driving. Road trips come in at about 18 MPG.
R.B. Man I feel for you folks in the bay area - what is up with the prices there? A few years back I remember one San Francisco gas station owner himself protested the prices and significantly dropped his prices for a short while - do I have that right?

Each time I measure my gas mileage I only average 14/15 MPG. Every time I 'fill up' I reset the trip odometer and when I top off the tank I get my numbers to compare the MPG.
W211 E55 owners will be lucky to get 10 or 11 MPG - that supercharger needs a lot of gas. Any one remember the problem with the gas mileage on the first lot of SL55's? This was printed in March 2002 issue of European Car:
"Meanwhile, the supercharged SL55 AMG scheduled for a spring 2002 launch has run into fuel-consumption problems and may be put back as far as the end of 2002. Cars have reportedly been using as much as 35 liters/100km in testing, effectively doubling the claimed fuel-consumption figures. Where the C32's V6 uses one crankshaft-driven belt to drive the blower and engine ancillaries, the bigger unit has so much more drag it needs a dedicated belt. The larger blower is said to take 80- to 90 bhp from the engine at peak revs."

Yup, that's pretty much what I get on stretches like that. And mine is a 2000.
E55AMG99...maybe your computer is lying to you
my 01 E55 gets 24-26MPG on the highway. one time i set my cruise at 60mph and AC off for *****sngiggles, i got 26.9MPG! but if i do 100% city driving though MPG drops and I get 16-17MPG tops.
my car loves highway runs, but doesn't like city driving much. thank god for MI highways, i can go 80-90 all day.
OBC MPG calculator seems a bit strange though, it always starts out really low and very slowly goes up.
btw what are u reviving a 4 year old thread for... ?

Dont trust the trip computer. Over a year of ownership in all sorts of driving conditions, I find the trip computer to be over optimistic by atleast 2 mpg on the highway and a good 2-3 mpg in the cities.
I get about 13-15 in city duty. About 22 on highways doing 80-100. I have gotten as high as 27 on the highway doing 65.

There's also a useful converter piece of software there too.

Great, glad you found something that works!
considering we were getting about 20mpg for our previous 6 cylinder E320 wagon, i'm quite pleased w/ the 19mpg.
