i had the stock grill painted- i looked all over a could not find a black grill.
the depo retro fit is not hard, i used my stock bulb, ballast, and headlight harness. i got a pair of hella projectors and it went together nicely. the depo are almost an exact copy of the oem hella headlight. the ballast even mounts to the depo in the factory location on the bottom.

What kind of paint did you use? I am about to do this and hopefully mass produce it however I am not sure what paints will look best.. I'm thinking of doing Matte black or piano black, however I fear that they will scratch due to road conditions and gravel. Any advice would help!

That's probably the best W210 I've seen. Looks great, and the supercharger just makes it all the more.
Are the Hella projectors you used bi-xenon or fixed shield (or no shield and you've got clean light but it projects really high)?

I've painted the grill on mine with various types of paint but after a while they would all chip.Originally Posted by dababor

I recently painted it with a dupont spray that has rubber in it, i forget what it's called but it makes the paint more elastic and it holds up the best compared to the other paints i used. It doesn't look bad either, it sort of has a flat black flacky metallic look to it.
the projectors are bi-xenon from a 07 5 series bmw, but i did not wire the motor for the shield yet. at first they were aimed high but i adjusted them.
the paint on my grill does have some rock chips - if anyone has a good solution let me know.
thanks for the compliments, im looking for some black hre wheels that means the kleemann wheels will be available if someone is interested pm me

Spray paint is a no no and will chip..
I have my grill wrapped up in the 3M carbon fiber vinyl wrap thingy and there will be no chips and will last long. IF you want black, they have black vinyl wrap thingy too..

Question... I plan on changing my headlights. So you used all the OEM stuff? Stock bulb, ballast and even the headlight harness? Can you give us a break down on this. How to?

2nd do you have a link on where you purchased the depo lights?
Thanks

i used all the info i could find on mbworld- baked them, pulled them apart removed depo projector, used rotary tool to shape inner headlight housing and mounted the bmw 5 series hella projector. i also used my stock bulb, ballast and harness. the depo is almost an exact copy of the stock hella headlight so the stock ballast mounts to the bottom of the depo unit perfectly and the harness is easy to remove and transfer. i also painted the trim piece around the projector black(it comes chrome from depo)
hope this helps

I hate to keep beating a dead horse on this, but is the reason the depo projector ones with the hid's already in and prewired with ballasts DON'T work or aren't recommended for "plug and play installation", because the projector in it actually sucks and doesn't cut off or aim well. So therefore it's recommended to replace the projector with a "real" projector?
Sorry about my rambling run on sentences.

Did you bake them again to seal after it was all put together?
yes, you have to bake them before they can be re-assembled
