Lemforder
I just received my Lemforder mounts from autohausaz.com today, P/N 2289901, they look great, can't wait to get them installed. Price $63 each. Can't go wrong!

I bought the same for my 2002 E320. Had them installed for free by a relative who owns a garage. The car is like new now. I only had a slight vibration at idle in gear, but now there is NO vibration at all. Have to check to see if the car stalled. amazing difference. Last month, I replaced the plugs (95K miles). no need to buy a new car.

I thought these mounts lasted about 100K miles. I don't think they "break", but they can leak. How many miles on your car? It sounds odd that you say they broke, especially 2 sets of mounts.

I think I've asked this before, but I swear you could get the W211 motor mounts that were made better and put them on. Then again, maybe that was with my CLK and you could put W209 ones on a W208. Can't remember.
Anyone have insight on if you can put the newer model ones on ours?

Ruptured Mount
I will be DIY install early next month after Thxgivin. My drivers side mount ruptured with only 29,500 miles/ten years, the evidence was an orange rust color splashed around the area of the mount. From what I gather the drivers side is the first to go, must be the way the engine torques when you goose it.
I will take pictures of the new vs drivers ruptured vs passenger side with 29K/10yrs and post them early next month.
It should be a two hour DIY job with no complications and for $120 (a couple of bottles of good wine) its not the end of the world if you have to replace them every five years or so.
As far as I know the Lemforders are just as good as any others.

I think I've read the DIY on doing it, and I can pull my car up on my ramps and use my jack to lift the engine, but I just don't trust that. I think I'd rather pay a few hundred to have a shop change them than pay a bunch if my engine slipped and shifted or something.

ive recently put in both aftermarket engine mounts
5000km on them so far so good.
ive figured if OEMS are deemed to fail so often whey spend 189$a mount OEM and give aftermarket a shot at 100$ vs both.

New pictures
Okay, started the job of replacing motor mounts, but first a few pictures to show some things to look for:
First picture is a normal passenger side mount, the next two pictures show a ruptured driver's side mount as is evidenced by the orange rust color surrounding the area of the mount, this after some prior washing of this area.
The next picture show a new green bushing I installed on the transmission shifter lever. Fairly easy install, don't know how it went missing, perhaps wear but the retainer clip was still in place. This condition gives a rattle when you accelerate, most notably when you are accelerating hard.
The last picture I am hoping someone has an idea where to look for this leaking fluid. I have now cleaned the area and once all repairs are completed will start the engine and start looking for the leak. All suggestions welcomed.
As I said before, once the motor mounts are out of the car I will take some comparitive pictures.

The green liquid in your AC compressor is an a leak detector. Maybe your dealer/indy filled 1 on the system with a prior AC charge to detect any leak. You have a leak in this site.. Ss pretty common the leak in this place in our cars, normally is the seals of one retainer valve visible / installed in right side of the AC comp. you can change the seal alone & all ok again. (take care, some cases this valve hase a bolt in the middle, covered with epoxy, this bolt tend to leak.. when you get off the valve to replace the seals remove the small cap of original epoxy & re-seal them again via welding hot material)..
The green bushing in the shifter lever is not missing, it would broken & lost.. in all 124, 202, 210, 163 & few others.
not a major job in this site, but sometimes is pretty hard to install the new one in the gear box selector! HECK! i think you see the other one.!! hahahaha
Clean engine! how i like
congrats

A picture is worth a thousand words!
As promised here are the comparative pictures of the New Lemforder Motor Mounts versus the original MB mounts from a 2001 E55 with only 29,800 miles. As you can clearly see time has its way with everything and the old mounts show that the were in desparate need of replacement after ten years. I am almost certain that they probably need replacement after five years too avoid the lack of functionality.
The first picture shows the side-by-side comparison of the passengers side old versus new on the left and the drivers side on the right.
The next picture shows the passengers side old versus new. Notice the difference in the height of the mounts, very significant.
The last picture shows the ruptured driver's side mount and the leaking fluid.
The replacement job was not that difficult. You need ramps and jacks to be safe for sure and a good jack to jack the engine up. I placed a 2x4 under the oil pan with no problems.
The procedure was pretty much what I followed on my 300CE:
Loosen the transmission mount bolts
Loosen the lower mount bolts
Loosen the top mount bolts (here you need a very strong arm, I had to have my strong arm neighbor come help as I just did not have the strength to break loose the bolts that were installed with blue loctite at the factory)
Remove the lower bolts
Jack the engine up sufficiently to remove the top bolts and remove the old mounts
Install the new mounts first with the upper bolt making sure you put the key on the mount into the slot on the mount bracket and that the mount shield is positioned to the key as well. Finger tight on the bolts only, you will need some wiggle for the next step.
Lower the engine slightly till the lower mount bolt can engage the threads and snug the bolts in place. Oh, BTW blue loctite on all mount bolts.
Lower the engine completely and tighten the lower and upper mount bolts to spec.
Give the engine a good shake and retighten the transmission mount bolts.
You're done, now go have fun and know you're not going to damage your transmission or engine.

Just for fun I decided to call my dealer to see what they'd charge to replace the mounts. Parts and labor came to........about $800. That's just stupid. Seriously, where do they come up with this pricing????? This is the same dealership that said they'd charge me $600 to replace spark plugs and something like $800 to flush the tranny fluid (back on my CLK430). That's why I basically don't use them.

Just did the motor mounts today and wow am I glad I didn't pay someone to do it. Really simple. Just a little tight, but as has been mentioned as long as you have a close end ratchet wrench for the top bolt it's pretty simple.
All I can say is HOLY SH*T!!!! Just feels like a completely different car now. I wish I would have done this a long time ago. The passenger side one wasn't leaking, but the drivers side one leaked all over the place.

Update: Tons more power. It's unreal how much more the tires just smoke off when I jump on the gas. I didn't figure this to be a side benefit, but I'm pleasantly surprised by it.
