budget brembo 4 piston front brakes

i realize the brake setup is very good on our cars, but i was looking for cross-drilled rotors and a multi-piston caliper with a more modern look.

one set of used calipers from a 2001 s500(brembo 4 piston) $100

new c32 pads and rotors (oem mercedes) $250.00

still looking for a set of stainless brake lines $50-100

i will post pics after the install is done. i plan on painting the calipers before install.

Actully the stock/oem brake setup was ok at least for me. Now with the added power you also need some serious stopping powah!

Let us know how you like the feel of the Brembo once you get them installed.

I am not real familiar with the W210 chassis, but you may want to pull a wheel, unbolt the caliper, remove the stock rotor and do a trial fit. I am worried about your S500 calipers as they were designed to use a 330mm and not C32/C55 345mm rotors. Look at the side of your calipers on the mount and you should see "330". I have these same calipers currently on my Crossfire and used SLK32/SRT-6 330 x 32 rotors. The S and CL class also use a rotor with more offset which required me to use some washers between the caliper and the mounting arms on the spindle. I am currently upgrading to C32 rotors and bought mine from the same guy you did. I bought some CL600 calipers to use with the C32 rotors. Calipers that work with the C32 345 x 32 rotor come on C32/C55/CLK500 and S/CL600 which in my case requires the spacers or washers like I have now. I am not sure of the offset on your e class but you should be able to make it work as long as you have calipers meant for a MB 345 x 32 rotor.

I have a smilar setup. I used C55 calipers up front and SLK55 calipers out back. The front calipers are way lighter, and look much nicer. The rear brakes made a bid differance. Plus front rotors are alot cheaper

Sorry things didn't quite work out. I recently got ripped off by an Ebay seller that sold me CLK500 calipers that turned out to be rare C350 calipers which I just sold to a guy on here who was happy to upgrade to 330mm rotors. The C32 and C55 calipers are the same and expensive. The CLK500 is the same caliper without the silver paint and AMG logo. the CLK500 caliper are usually cheaper and easier to find. Most of the used calipers need to cleaned and painted anyway and you can buy the AMG, Mercedes Benz or Brembo lettering on Ebay. Another option is the 99-02 S600 and CL600 caliper which I just found and ordered. These fit a 345mm rotor and are also reasonable becuase people haven't figured out they also work great for an upgrade. You have to be careful of the year of the car becasue prior to '99 they used a 320mm rotor and after '02 they used a 360mm rotor. The other issure wit the S and CL class is that you need to space them out. Four flat washers between the caliper and mount on the spindle worked great for me. If you like the calipers you have you can use SLK32/SRT6 330 x 32 mm rotors. Good luck with your upgrade.

I hope to have my system redone soon with 345mm on the front and 330mm SLK55 rotors on the back. I will be running ultra rare S/CL65 rear calipers on the rear. To make this work I bought a junked rear hub assembly from an SLK/Crossfire so that I can make a custom bracket and do the work on a bench instead of on my car. the only reason I am going bigger on the front is because I want my front rotor to be larger than my rear. My existing front set will be going on sale as soon as the new front system is done.

This is excellent news, exactly what I was looking for. Steve has me all jazzed up from his brake upgrade, LOL...

The Crossfire like the SLK comes with 300mm rotors with ugly and heavy floating type calipers. Adding the four piston Brembo's with SLK32/SRT6 thicker 330mm rotors was a real improvement. the car stopped with more authority and more of a thrown against the seat belt feeling.

w210 300td
Hello.
i own a w210 300td with a 300mm rotors and i want to upgrade it..possibly to a 3300mm from an W220 (320cdi/400cdi/500) but a mechanic told me that calipers would fit but the original 330mm rotors would´t!!!
What should i do to get there 330mm?
I cannot put there any bigger(i think!!!!) because i just have 17"rims!!!
Does 345mm rotors fit my 17"rims?
Thanks

So you are saying C55 calipers fit up front and SLK55 calipers fit in the rear? (what chassis slk?) So, would the rotors and pads from the C55 fit up front and the SLK55 rotors and pads fit in the rear? Or did you go with something else. Was weight the only benefit?
