I would have thougth our radios would have some kind of AUX input jacket for plugging an external sound source, but I cannot find any. Am I missing something, or they really did not put one in? It's a 2000 model. Thanks fellows.

If you have COMAND there is an aux input in the glove box on the left side. If you just have the standard stereo, you're out of luck.

It is only an input and will not charge your device.

COMAND is the OEM double DIN Navigation unit. If you have to ask, I doubt you have it. There is a way to DIY an aux input into the non-COMAND radio, but it takes a bit of soldering skill and a pretty good sense of how to take apart electronics. I did it on mine, but I've been working on audio electronics for years.

You can use a a cassette adapter. I'll take pics. Cable must be run inside the unit and out the back. Worked great but I bought a crap cassette adapter and it got noisy. I'll snap pics when I replace it this weekend or so. Easy job and there's your aux.

Cassete tape AUX cable....where it goes?

Bougth a "quality" Sony cassete tape adapter with a cable to plug into a MP3. Yes said before the cable must be run out of the tape unit through the inside and out the back. Can anyone give me some tips on where is this cable supposed to go in order to get it out of the Tape deck, so the little door can be closed? Do I need to take the deck out? Hope not. Thanks guys.

I will. My "quality" sony sometimes started making a loud mechanical noise from the rotating "tape" parts. My next one is the Monster (based solely on reviews on Amazon). When I go in, I'll snap some pics. It's easy.

mistery slots

well, while I am waiting for your pics I have been looking at the sound unit, studying it....trying to figure how to route the wire from the tape out of it....can't figure it, and don't want to break anything. However, I noticed two very small slots . One in the "Tel" button on the left side, and another one in the # buttom on the rigth side. Took the buttoms out and the slots are very thin and about 1/4" wide. Flash ligth revealed what maybe a metal push little bar inside, and since these two slots are somewhat simetrical, I assume it is intended at introducing some sort of tool to remove the stereo unit. My Ford has a similar tool that must be inserted in order to free and release the stereo unit. Problem is I have no idea what the tool looks like....so I will wait for your pics......I am sorta impatient .....Thanks.
