Mercedes car key
It has been a while since I have seen questions posted about the MB car key.
I need to get a new one and my MB dealer wants $300+tax for it.
Does anyone know of a cheaper place .
Thank you.

yea also look up your local dealers websites sometimes they might have special or coupon but normally i think your gonna paid around that price . Mine I believe quoted me $230 + $10 to program IIRC .

I agree, $300 sounds a little top-heavy on the price. I asked about a month ago at my local dealership here in Alabama, and I believe the much quoted $230 was the price. Definitely shop around several dealerships in your area.

I paid about $150 for the new chrome key fob from Oem parts direct. Just sent them a copy of your registration and driver license. It will come already programmed.

When I was checking a few months ago, the best I could find was $230 and that was of course, in person, with the car, at the dealer.

How long ago did you do this? Just funny that everyone else on this (and every other forum) says that the only way to get keys now is through the dealer, IN PERSON. A few years ago, there seemed to be a couple sources for ordering by phone, but every report is that Mercedes shut that down completely.

BTW, that website is gone. If you put in that address, it comes to a webstore called Autobarn (they are not an import specialist anymore).

I was in the same situation about a year ago when I got my jacket stolen with wallet and keys in it at the airport. If you are in a similar situation, urgently needing your car I'd recommend using one of these professional locksmith companies that come to you can create you a brand new key. They are cheap (i paid just over £190 with this company here http://autokeysquad.co.uk/, however they only operate within the M25 but you can definitely find others that cover a wider part of the country), professional and work at the most unsociable hours ( I got my key back at 4 o'clock in the morning and this within minutes).
I would definitely recommend

Where are you located? I just bought a key not so long ago from my local dealer... I originally bought the car with one key and it got washed in the laundry, and well long story short... stopped working. Went out and bought a new key for 268 including tax.
