P0150 vs. P0141 ??

Last month my CEL came on. I pulled a code 0150. I had my indy replace the appropriate sensor. Last night, CEL again. Code 0141. Is this a different sensor?

ODBII codes

P0150 O2 sensor passenger side, upstream closest to header.

P0141 O2 sensor driver side, downstream closest to cat.

What did your Indy shop replace?

I have been told that a dirty MAF will sometimes throw the CEL P0150. Is yours clean?

I cleaned my MAF sensor 2K ago. I clean my MAF sensor every 5K since replaced back at 47.5K. I am currently at 74.5K (MAF last cleaned 2K ago). According to my invoice, my Indy replaced the left front o2 sensor. Given the P0150 code, I hope he replaced the correct 02 sensor. I am getting confused. Is left equivalent to passenger side or driver side? Nonetheless, P0141 appears to be a different 02 sensor altogether. Though, I may try cleaning the MAF sensor first.

It appears that the P0150 code is related the "left, front" O2 sensor. However, a dirty or worn MAF could potentially throw the same code.

Code P0141 is related to "right, rear" O2 sensor. So did the Indy replace only 1 sensor or 2? There are 4 O2 sensors total. Most on the forum suggest to replace all 4 @ 100K miles.

I recently threw codes P0174 and P0171. I replaced my MAF, after cleaning proved ineffective. Still throwing the codes, I replaced both front O2 sensors. Been CEL free for the last 5K miles. The car has just turned 95K.

Good luck!

My Indy replaced only one O2 sensor...left, front. It appears that he will be replacing the right, rear O2 sensor in the very near future. I would clean the MAF sensor a little before schedule, but I have had an intermitent P0141 which disappeared a few months ago. Looks like she's back. I truly appreciated your input Swim Wagon.

Update: Busy with work, and four months later, I finally got around to addressing my Error Code P0141 (rear/right oxygen sensor). As it stood, my indy wanted $250 parts/labor. But, after a bit of research, it became a DIY project. The two front sensors can be a PITA, but the two rear oxygen sensors is an easy no brainer DIY. I purchased the O2 sensor from www.pelicanparts.com for $118.00; placed the beast on ramps; crawled under via front end which placed me dead center of both rear sensors; released old right sensor from the transmission pan clip; unplugged the old sensor; released old right sensor from the exhaust pipe (used a 7/8 box/open wrench); and then the reverse. Saved over $125, and spent $10 of it on a six pack of Stella Artois. Me happy.

Yeah, you gotta watch out for this labor and up charge from the shops....if you are too lazy to crawl under the car, then pay the top price for them. As for me, I am the same as you, if I can do it myself I do it....only thing is sometimes, the timing is hard when you get busy with work, you don't have the time to mess with it. Good for you...save a few bucks and also learn how easy these things actually take to fix.
