Glad to hear so many people still enjoying the w210 e55 even with well over 100k+ miles and 15+ years on the calendar . We have 160k miles on ours and it does not look or feel like it has even has close to one third those miles, especially powetrain wise, cannot wait to turn the clock back even further once the suspension is brought back into OEM+ spec.

2001 E55 AMG
rallycar, your steering wheel isn't OEM color to match the interior. Did you color it or replace it? Mine was absolutely a mess when I bought the car. I cleaned and cleaned. Then used a little white shoe polish, wiping excess to get a semi-grey appearance to match the rest of the interior.

1999 E55 AMG, 1994 W124 (RIP)
My 1999 E55 just rolled up on 188,000 miles. Daily driver, around 20k miles per year. I've owned it for the past two years (since 149,000), so I figured I would detail my experience a bit. Lets just say I enjoy the car and rear tires last 10-12K miles on average. Good mix of highway and city driving (almost 50/50 now).
Upgrades:
AFE ProDry air filters, resonator delete, x-pipe, 2nd cat delete, high flow primaries (had them chopped for a year....the sound was brutally awesome), EuroCharged ECU Tune, SS brake lines
Maintenance Performed over the last two years (40,000 miles):
Rear outer lower control arm bushing
Front and Rear brake rotors (and pads)
Water Pump
Fan Clutch (ended up just removing the entire fan for a few weeks before repairing)
I'm sure some other fairly small things I forgot too...
Lots of tires and oil changes.
Really not too bad maintenance wise for a car made in the 90s approaching 200k. The general stuff like tires, oil changes, and premium gasoline are what really seem to add up in ownership costs....and then when a repair bill does hit, well let's be honest that really sucks!

For those of you with high mileage e55 AMG, on average, how many miles do you find yourself doing significant preventative maintenance and repairs?
For instance, if one were to spend a substantial amount of time and money to replace all known problematic parts, how many miles would you expect to get before needing the same substantial repairs again? every 50k miles, 100K? Looking for experienced owner experiences and yes, I realize it totally depends on how you drive it.
How much do those repairs cost in total? $5K, $10K?

Bought my 2001 just over a month ago with 85k miles. Now in a month drove almost 2k miles. It's my daily, and I love it. Beforehand I was daily driving my LX470 tank...getting 14 mpg so the e55 is an upgrade in terms of mpgs! haha Anyways, I bought the car with limited maintenance history. With that, it need all new brakes and fluid. So front and rear pads, rotors all new. New engine mounts and transmission mount. Steering rack replacement and valve cover gaskets on both side replaced. Fresh oil/filter and differential serviced. In the near future I will replace spark plugs and do a full transmission flush service. We checked the transmission fluid and it looked pretty good so looking to change it out at 100k.

I am the proud owner of a 99 AMG. I am 3rd owner and have owned car 3 yrs with 71K. Perform all maint so far. Car is stock with new Bilstean R shocks, Performed mono arm re-grease this spring. Getting ready to replace spark plugs and trans filter/fluid.

Thanks. There's actually another tectite car in my area too, but not kept as clean. I see it about once a year. Labor of love keeping it spotless...but I paid for it, so what the hell.
I should chime in, a little sheepishly, that the car has 52xxx miles on it. Not driven enough I know...but finding time to really take it out is not easy...I live close to work, and anyone around Seattle knows that 6 days a week, driving here is pretty crappy.

A nice low mile specimine. What would you sell it for if you were to sell it? Trying to value an exceptionally low mile car.
