I saw this last night. I am considering it and the price is right. I do not like these 2 tone seats other than that it is in the ball park. thanks, i check auto trader, car.com and ebay every day for e55

12k is a STEAL for this car... what a beauty. 2001 is also the rarest year for an E55.

Looks nice but...

$12k is not the BIN, only the starting bid. By the time he gets it up a bit, and you pay those new Ebay fees, it may be a ways from there. And none of these cars is a "steal" until you check for rust, electrical issues, brakes and more. One other small thing--I'd be really curious to know how a car that's 11 model years old could still be CPO. It's OK, I just wouldn't rely on that.

Starting bid or not... that's the minimum the seller would let it go for. I'm not sure about the new eBay fees... how do they base the fee? Flat or percentage?

When I bought mine over 5 years ago, it was a CPO'd car too, didn't have the warranty but it was once CPO'd. Btw, when I bought mine without looking at it over 5 years ago... it was a steal, still is a steal till this day. These cars were practically 100k in today's inflated money. 12k is nothing compared to 100k, I consider it a steal.

Re,the CPO...

I do agree, it's good to know that at some point, it was under CPO, although that's no panacea from MB. Just thought the buyers should call out the seller fro tryng to sell this on ebay as CPO, which it just can't be.

Ah, I just noticed under condition... the seller lists it as a CPO then in the description states it was purchased as a CPO'd car.

I wrote to the seller to ask for a phone number. I may go drive it if all the options are working. sooner or later I will find a car. It would be better to buy a 1 owner car.

welll...

while I do applaud your efforts to find an exceptional one, I would not pass on one just because it's not a one owner car. We are talking about a car that will be 11 MODEL YEARS old at best, and most of these are driven, not garage queens. If you're looking for a car like that, you might want to check the Star, and/or concentrate on the SoCal area. There do seem to be more cars there, but also less sensibly priced.
As far as everything working, I wouldn't necessarily count on that or let it stand in my way. The W210 is not exactly the nadir of MB quality. Good news is that there are good vendors and shops that can easily repair or make these things better. Hate to say it, cause I'm not a compromise kinda guy, but we are still talking about a 12 year old, $10-15k car. Time waits for no one, even if the miles don't turn, things break, age, and stop working. Good luck in the search.

I'm the 5th owner on mine and possibly the last.

Just hold out for a car that fits all your wishes Phil. A first owner car is best I agree with you. I do agree the two color AMG interior does not look good. Maybe it looked cool 13 years ago, but it does not age well. Of the ones for sale right now I like the interior the best in this one, but it does not give you vented seats and the spoiler looks off.

Sure I understand. Navi and vented seats, are there any other options on your wish list?

e55phil, looks like all options you want in the E55 is in mine + more (i.e. parktronic, designo edition). There may be some out there that fits all your parameters but you will have to wait a while longer. Good luck in your search.

parktronic would be nice and your car looks great. I am sure that I will find the car I want sooner or later.

Also I may install the GPS that Martin suggested. that looked nice. That has a backup camera.

Please keep me in mind.

thanks

phil

Hi Phil. Keep in mind the Navi did not come with the camera. I picked mine up on ebay, it is called Pioneer BC-5.

Do the ventilated seats in the 210 work better than the 211? Because I wouldn't hold out on a car just because it was lacking that option, they're pretty pathetic IMO.

They work alright... IMO the best ventilated seats from a manufacture are Lexus.

Where to start? The Italians or the Germans?

Same question goes for me. Even the "cooled" seats in the S65 (w220) don't really work all that well. Certainly nothing to brag about. I find that unless I have the seat heaters on, I wind up driving it with the "coolers" on.

Just FYI..

the ventilated seats in most all these cars aren't much help. This is close to 15 year old technology.

+1 and the W210 has the worst NAVI ever.... if you chose your car base on ventilated and NAVI..... don't know what to say. I rather get a low mileage and well maintain without Navi so I can add a nice 7" Pionner touch screen new update GPS with Bluetooth hand free for only $700 top. Good luck !

I agree with you on the NAV. However, Martin above pointed out that it is much less work to upgrade the NAV to a newer unit if you buy a 210 with the stock NAV. It was the post about 1 DIN vs 2 DIN. Anyway I will keep looking until I find what I want. Sooner or later I will find the car I want.

And if you live in New York area, you better try to find a E55 from west area without snow. W210 is not very rust friendly and you better do anti-rust spray every 2 years.
