Post your location. Are you looking for something local or are you cool with buying sight unseen?
Finding ventilated seats will be a bit harder. From what I've read they don't work for **** either. They're basically just small computer fans that are in the seat.

Thank your for your reply and for letting me know that the seats to not work very well. I did not know that. That may change my thinking.
I live in NYC and I would fly to look at a car. I fly all over now and I like to visit our clients so I could combine the trip. Do you know of a car?
(I edited my profile to reflect whey I live and I added a photo. If the seats do not do the job maybe I will edit my post or make a new one)
Thank you and best regards, Phil

Ventilated seat functions very well in cases where the car has been parked under the heat of the sun. It quickly cools the seats much faster than those without. And fyi, they're ~5 inch fans sucking air from A/C pipes from under the seats (when A/C is on off course).

The Navi sucks. The best is find a one without navi and add an after market Navi. You should try the old school Navi first before you set your mind. My W211 cooling seat works good but not sure how many W210 equipped with cooling seat. Its gona be very hard to find from your criteria. 2001 and 2002 only 1000 - 1200 E55 came to the state. Not many comes with cooling seat.
Good luck !

Huh, I remember reading in a few places that they don't work for ****. People were trying to come up with more powerful fan setups that would push more air than the stock ones.

I have my E55 listed in the Louisville Craigslist. Vented seats, no nav. I love the seat option...it is certainly not a blast of cold air but it is certainly enough to be very effective in the summer. Feel free to contact me if you want any further info.

Hi Phil. The old command 2.0 or Navi as you call it, is a very old and old fashioned system! Your best bet is to replace it with a never 2-din navi. Be aware, if you buy a car with a 1-din stereo, it will be a costly affair to convert to 2-din. I did that this summer in germany and it is well worth to hang in there for a car with original 2-din Command and then upgrade to a newer system from there. The 1-din to 2-din vconvertion costs about 400euros in new parts in germany and is also a big job as the main dash has to come off. So bottom line: Go with the original 2-din command and then upgrade to a newer 2-din navi of your choice. I have the vented seats also, I guess they are very rare. I had them retrofitted. This summer I bought a nappa, two color interior with vented/heated, memory, orthopedic front seats and heated back seats for 1000euros, the work was about a day. Big cost? Well it took me at least 4 weeks of searching before finding anything in Europe, it should be harder in the US. Again, bottom line: hold out for a car with all the options you are looking for. Its an expensive job to retrofit these things. Good luck with your searching/shopping!

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Just a suggestion....but...
you've got to get past a bunch of other hurdles before I'd be too worried about seats, and yes, the nav sucks. Did when it was new and there is no support for it now. I'd be more concerned about RUST, suspension parts (to your advantage anyway as US spec stuff is sooo soft and the ride height is too high), instrument clusters, window regulators, and ECU's that are temperamental. Good luck in the search, just be cautious...

Thank you Martin, May I ask how I tell if a car has 1 din or 2 din? If I buy a stock e55 will it come 2 din? What is 2 din anyway? as I am buying the car as an investment perhaps I should keep the car stock? Just in case may I ask what GPS you installed in your car?
Thanks
Phil

The 1-din is your generic car stereo size. The 2-din is twice the height and typically hosts a 4 to 7" screen.
Just keep the MB Navi in a drawer when you upgrade so that an eventual next owner can keep the car stock if he so chooses.
I upgraded to a Pioneer navi called AVIC F40BT in Europe. It is called AVIC-Z140BH in the US and costs about 1500USD. But honestly any decent navi from around 6-700USD from Pioneer/Kenwood/Clarion/Alpine/Sony will be a considerable upgrade from the MB command.
Mine is here:

cheers!

Thanks Martin, I understand that din is a form of measurement. That GPS you purchased is very impressive. I will consider it. I did not watch the video yet, can you control the GPS from the steering wheel? Or the radio?
Thank you for taking time to help me.

The GPS unit is stunning, and with an Iphone 4 or 4s the unit can do just about anything. It is now a picture browser for the pics/vids on my iphone, an internetbrowser, my calender pops up etc etc.
The E55 w210 facelift/model update has MF steering wheel and there the navi will "talk" with both the instrument screen and the steering wheel. You might need a little box or cable from Pioneer to get it to communicate with the old MB system in the w210

'02 E55, '03 Z4 6MT and other lesser vehicles
Phil,
I've toyed with the idea of selling my '02. Totally stock, silver, no Navi, no vent seats, all black interior. I've enjoyed the car immensely. And I'm pretty particular with it's care. Mobil 1 every 5k, new mann air filters every 10k. All records, Michelin PS AS+. Only Chevron Prem, new factory plugs, wires, MAF, CPS, brake pads, rotors, fuel filter, etc. Lots of extra items, new E55 carpets in bag, filters, motor mounts, ball joints. Still gets 19-20 MPG in town, up to 25 on the hwy. Garaged, clay barred, etc. New factory front windshield this past summer.
The only draw back to consider is the mileage at 147k. It's a great drive. I have a company car now and four other cars/truck. And only a two car garage. It's time to downsize and let someone else enjoy the car.
Also, don't think of these cars as an investment, these are drivers cars.
Let me know your level of interest. Seattle area.
Mike K.

Thank you Mike. I also plan tot drive the car but if and when i am ready to sell i want to to be in perfect shape. I think I will keep it because it is my favorite car style. I do want NAV and vented seats however.
thanks again, phil
