Is 100,000 miles high for a used E55 for sale
Hi, I am looking for a used E55. I posted a thread here. A dealer contacted me to offer me a car with 100,000 mikes.
To me 100k could be ok depending on who owned the car and how they treated it.
Does anyone have any advice for me about a car with this many miles? Are there components that typically fail at or around that mileage.
Thank you.
phil

Just make sure the transmission has been serviced before. typical wear items include lower ball joints and lower control arm bushings, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs and wires, MAF sensor. Other than wear items these things are rock solid. There really isn't much to go wrong, mostly just wear and tear items like any car would have.

I bought mine 1.5 years ago with 84K miles. Today it has 92K, I just drove to Fremont round trip almost 800 miles round trip. My car still look and smell like new inside. Wash every 3 months and always park in the garage. Only change engine oil, air filter, tires and brakes. Very reliable as long you take good care of it. My Honda Odyssey 2006 has no problems than my 2000 E55

I bought mine June 2011 with 91,000 on it and am about to hit 110,000. It had no records so I spent a lot of money getting all the maintenance **** taken care of on it. The only thing that's gone wrong in the time I've had it is the drive shaft center bearing / support was causing a vibration and needed replacing.
They do go through tires quick (staggered, so no rotating) and front brakes are not cheap to replace ($600 + in parts for rotors/pads). Rear brakes are cheap and can be done for under $300 if you DIY.
Mine has been very reliable and I'd drive it anywhere.

Bought at 74K and now at 91K (in 5 years). Have not had a single issue come up since I bought it, only some issues that were identified at purchase that I addressed.
Been the most reliable vehicle I have owned. Trying to sell it for a CL55, will probably be on here regretting that move to an ABC car one day.

ask the dealer to present you with any service info it might have had previously .. I bought my 01 in 2010 with almost 110K and by end of this month will be hitting 150K have yet to have one issue mechanically other then a CPS sensor . If I had todo it all over again Id by it again in a heartbeat . Also check for rust depending where you live . On black cars its harder to notice under the paint compared to the lighter colored cars
