Nitto 555R tires
Hi guys!!
I thought that its time for me to get some summer tires for the car. I have a set of used W211 E55 rims sitting in storage and thought of plastic dip them and mount some summer tires for my car. I was looking at some Nitto 555R drag tires. What do you guys think about these tires?? I am thinking a skinner tire for the front...something like 215/40-18 and regular size tire for the rear....275/30-18.....to give the stagger drag funny car look![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)

Stick with the stock tire size since it correctly fits the wheel. Drag cars use skinny front wheels that aren't any where close to being 8+" wide. They don't just stick skinnier tires on a normal size wheel.
Going with a smaller tire on the front is also going to negatively impact the handling of the car.

That nitto 555R tire tends to run a size smaller than normal, a 285 555R is the same width as a 275 Invo (in my experience) as i run a 275 Invo on a 9.5 wheel with a little rubbing and then a drag set up with a 285 555R on a 9.5 with no rubbing.

285/30-18
I took my car to my indie mb repair shop to get brake pads for the front and my mechanic told me that there are a few bold spots on my rear tires (too many rear spins
) Now, instead of thinking of putting nitto drag on an extra set of rims, I am having to get tires for the original rims.
I am thinking of getting a set of nitto 555R 285/35-18 for the rears. What do you guys think. OEM is 275/35-18. You think they might rub?

I've been happy with Toyo Proxes TR1. I'm not sure what the offset of w211 wheels are, but let me add this, anytime you wonder from OEM, being wider, +1, +2 you need to make sure the tire sits at exactly the same place as OEM! An incorrect tire size or offset will most likely rub suspension bolts, fenders or inner liner, if the offset makes the tire stick out just a few mm to far, it might clear everything, but then you risk your car paint being beat to hell by rock chips. Just some advice before throwing anything with a 5x112 bolt pattern on your car.
